This walk will be jointly led by Les Heitter. We will meet on Pittwater Rd, Narrabeen, just past the “Tramshed Café” (see old Sydney tram parked outside). We start the walk by crossing Pittwater Rd to go to Narrabeen Beach, heading north along Narrabeen Peninsula, and crossing over Narrabeen Lagoon where it empties into the ocean. We then return to the main lagoon to start our circuit walk. The lagoon is home to many seabirds, black swans and even aggressive Kookaburras (especially at the picnic spots). The walk will take us past the Sydney Academy of Sport, Cromer Golf Course, Jamieson Park and many beautiful lakeside spots as we near our starting point. (Fully Booked) The walk begins at Meryla Pass in Morton NP. From the locked gate continue on the Fire Trail along the ridge. The first section is a fairly steep fire trail but flattens out and then follows along a track.There are several viewpoints which look towards Mt Carrialoo, Crankey's Creek and Lake Yarrunga until reaching the end of the track overlooking Wombat Hill. If conditions are suitable we push through on a less defined track to Yarrunga Trig for great views down to the jnct of Yarrunga Creek & Kangaroo R. On the return there is an optional trail leading to Rebecca's View over Sandy's Creek on the other side of the ridge. Rough track and unfenced cliffs. Off track for extension to the trig. Grade: Suitable for primary school children. From the Granite Falls carpark we will walk to the lookout over the falls, and then back to the car. We will then drive to the picnic area under the George Boyd Lookout. The walking track leads us beneath towering cliffs of sandstone and winds its way through the rainforest. Looking carefully, you might see anything from wallabies and echidnas to lyrebirds and catbirds in this part of Morton National Park. At the end of the track, we shall scale a short ladder to enjoy unrestricted views of the beautiful Shoalhaven coastline. Back at the picnic area we stop to have lunch before returning back to Milton.

The infamous Peabody Metropolitan Colliery is located further up Camp Gully Creek. The mine has illegally discharged coal waste material into these waterways on numerous occasions in recent years. If you’re curious about the ongoing impacts on the ecosystem downstream, this is a good opportunity to see the evidence for yourself.

Starting with a walk, commencing at 9:00, from the corner of Sylvan Ridge Drive and Moon Point Road, Illawong to the Albert Delardes Reserve, a distance of about 3km downhill, through the Georges River National Park, mostly on a fire trail with some loose surfaces and rough sections.
At the reserve activities will commence at 10:00 with Graham Avery, the Sutherland Council Aboriginal Development Officer, performing a smoking ceremony. Graham will then discuss Indigenous food sources and we visit a large midden in the reserve robbed by Europeans in the 19th century.
Archaeologists Greg Jackson and Pam Forbes will lead us to several local sites of European importance including the first crossing of lower Georges River in 1843.
Lloyd Hedges will then explain the quite unusual local flora. Morning tea will be kindly provided by Menai Wildflower Group.
People who do not wish to do the optional walk can meet Graham in Delardes Reserve, Griffin Parade, Illawong at 10:00. The entry to Delardes Reserve is near the western end of Griffin Parade.

Urban noise disappears as we follow Magdala Creek 4km down to Glenbrook Creek. Here we find tall trees, and patches of rainforest in the deep gullies. As always, there is a climb out of the valley. We return to Springwood Station via Sassafras Gully Rd after a little sidetrip to see the stone cross. No major creek crossings, but there are a number of short shallow ones. Commencing at Kisses Lagoon, this is an attractive river walk via the Bega River Reserve. The Reserve itself covers an area of 8.5 ha, with the river and anabranch being home to water dragons, turtles and a variety of birds. This is a long, at times challenging walk through some of the best scenery the Gardens of Stone has to offer. First we must trudge through a kilometre or two of thick scrub, but our payoff is an extended cliff and pagoda top walk high above the eastern side of the Capertee Valley. On our way, we will see Jamison Pass, the Plain of Shards, Ngamperi Rock (the original Nipple Rock) and the Pondage Canyon. Time permitting, we can also drop in on Stargate Tunnel on our return.
