(NEW!!!) TS2596 JELLORE has a notice claiming to be the first trig station established under order of Governor Ralph Darling on 26 May 1828 by Thomas Mitchell who succeded John Oxley as Australia's Surveyor General.
So, probably “the first” trig station ever in Australia, and the first by Thomas Mitchel under Governor Darling. A mix of walking track and fire trail to the base of Mount Jellore. Track to summit has loose rocks but not too steep. View point past the trig to the north worth going to.
Grade 4 walk when including the last leg to the summit. A grade 3 walk to the south rock wall of the summit. Loose rocks on summit track. Location: Jellore State Forest Map: Mittagong 8929-2S and Hilltop 8929-2N Limit: 15.

Deep Pass Canyon and Split Rock |
Grade:4/6 |
Length |
5km |
100m |
Sydney Branch |
Mark G. |
Deep Pass Canyon is quite possibly the easiest wet canyon you can do and you can normally manage to stay dry for most of of this trip if you are agile. Even then you'll only normally get wet up to your waist.
There are no abseils but there are quite a few places where you need to haul yourself up short length ropes. Along the way you'll encounter many small and stunning waterfalls and cascades where a swim is certainly worthwhile experiencing! Before the canyon we will do a short sidetrip to the impressive Split Rock which has some interesting tunnels within its imposing structure. Rock scrambling and slippery bits. Location: Wollemi NP Map: Rock Hill 89312N Limit: 8.

(Fully Booked - Ask leader about waiting list) A walk in the Snowies in Summer is always like a breath of fresh air to the soul and body and on this walk we will endeavour to search out those places of beauty along the way from starting point of the Snakey Plain Trail all the way to Round Mountain Trackhead. The literal highlight is a daytrip from our campsite to the top of Mt Jagungal, arguably Kossies most charismatic peak! Also expect a bonanza of Summer blooms and swimming holes worth a dip, to name a few of the delights to be had on this walk. Location: Kosciuszko NP Map: Jagungal 85251S Limit: 8.

Glenbrook Gorge – Portal View Lookout – Tunnel View Lookout – Tunnel View Track – Glenbrook Creek |
Grade:4/6 |
Length |
10km |
300m |
Sydney Branch |
Mark G. |
Glenbrook Gorge is truly a spectacular place and within its imposing sheer walls is a watercourse of great beauty with many swimmable pools and cascades to savour on a warm summer's sunny day! The last time I did this walk was in August when it was too cold to swim but hopefully we will be able to go for many a dip as we make our way down the gorge. The trip route/plan is to climb up to Portal Lookout and descend via Tunnel View Track. However, if it's going to be a hot day I'll simply return via the way we came, reversing our way back up the gorge. Rock hopping. Location: Blue Mountains National Park Map: Penrith 90303N Limit: 20.

Waterfall Station - Kangaroo Creek - Karloo Pools - Karloo Track - Heathcote Station. Kangaroo Creek is, in my opinion, the most beautiful and wild watercourse in the Royal National Park and is blessed with so many swimmable pools that it makes a perfect walk to do in summer. I plan to swim in a number of these and the hotter it is, the more swimming I'll be doing as we make our way down to Karloo Pool. Rock hopping along the creek on a rough track. Dargans Creek Canyon |
Grade:4/6 |
Length |
5km |

Sydney Branch |
Mark G. |
Dargans Creek canyon is an excellent relatively easyish canyon for those who have done a few canyons before such as Birrabang as it doesnt have any abseils involved. It does have a few short swims and there is a climb out up a tree with spikes. Of course I'll bring a tape and I'd like people attending to wear a helmet and bring a wetsuit too. I have spare helmets for those needing one.Due to the few short swims, you should bring a PDF if you are not a confident swimmer. scrambling on slippery rocks and a few short swims. Wollangambe 2 is a canyoners delight but without abseils. You'll need a good lilo/surfmat or airbed and a wetsuit and a flotation device is also a good idea. Expect plenty of beautiful canyon sections where you'll paddle and several walk through sections over rocks. People coming should be good at rock scrambling and not afraid of water! Rock scrambling between the pools. Location: Wollemi NP Map: Wollangambe 89312S Limit: 8.
