This walk takes the “Stairway to Heaven” at Palm Beach, climbing from the Pittwater side of the Palm Beach peninsula to the ocean side. After following the beach north it heads up the Barrenjoey headland to the lighthouse returning to water level. The climbs are rewarded with 360-degree views over the peninsula, Pittwater, Broken Bay and the eastern coastline. Steps.

A site seeing tour, approximately 35 kms return. Starting and finishing at Wolli Creek Railway Station, returning approx. 3:30pm. Bring water, sunscreen, morning tea. Lunch at local Thai Restaurant in Newtown or BYO. Meeting 9:45am for a 10am start, must contact leader. Limited numbers. No helmet no go! View

Starting at Thornleigh Station with a little local history, we will head west along the Great North Walk before diverting through Westleigh and then returning to the bush again on our way to Lisgar Gardens. Lisgar Gardens is a wonderful, secret garden hidden in the back streets of Hornsby. Spread across 6 acres, the garden packs a lot in with a little bit of something for everyone. Lisgar Gardens  are famous for their Camellias. There are around ninety varieties in the garden. Some steep and slippery sections, steep staircases and elevation changes. steep staircase

Blackbutt Reserve occupies over 182 hectares of natural bushland providing visitors with the opportunity to enjoy nature trails, wildlife exhibits, or passive recreation. The Reserve's undulating natural environment is the perfect place to explore the wonders of nature with its peaceful picnic settings, wide open spaces and the diverse range of habitats and ecosystems. The modern and spacious wildlife exhbits provide close viewing of the various native animals on display. The exhibited animals and interpretative signage located along the boardwalk (both wheelchair and pram friendly) provide an opportunity for visitors to observe the fauna and learn about each species. Comprising Eucalypt Forest and pockets of significant remnant vegetation, Blackbutt Reserve boasts a restored rainforest providing habitats for a number of rare and vulnerable species.

We’ll visit many scenic points including Lady Darley Lookout, Kedumba View, Echo Point, Minnamurra Lookout, Honeymoon Lookout, Bridal Veil View, Leura Cascades, Olympian Rock and Gordon Falls Lookout. Steep and slipppery sections. Gortex boots an advantage. Walk will be cancelled in severe weather warning, bush fire warning or park closure. Next, head north along the spur, then turn west and find a way down to the next level towards west at about GR 4200 2356. The idea is to explore the next 400 m of pagodas and slots, until 4160 E. Return via Ariadne Needles. Partly exploratory. Scrambling and exposure. About 10 km.

I'm itching to see what the Grose Valley looks like at Blue Gum forest as well as in what condition, these 2 famous connecting tracks are in, so come and join me for what should be a wonderful walk. Steep descent and ascent and possibly loose rocks.

Walk | A bushwalk of any kind short or longPark the vehicles at around GR 306 175 on the branch road off the Bicentennial National Trail. Follow the Great Dividing Range north to Gordian Knot and then to Witches Watch, a spectacular lookout above Hecates Cauldron. From here, descend into the Cauldron and explore it underneath the cliff lines and also above, amidst “the bubbles”. Visit the Tower of Hope and other attractions. Descend into the headwaters of Baal Bone Creek, cross the valley and climb up through Tara Slot onto Tara Point. More amazing views. From here, move up to the ridge and re-connect with the vehicles. Scrambling and exposure.
