(Cancelled) We did this stunning walk as a training walk for Cape to Cape. As it is so beautiful, we are putting it on again in Spring when there will be even more wildflowers, so that others can enjoy it as well. This walk starts from Manly, pass a couple of beaches, a couple of lookouts, a hole in Bluefish wall. Then we explore the hanging swamps of Northhead, North Fort, observation post, 2 gun pits, barrel display, and the memorial walk. We will have morning tea at a prestigious point where you see the beautiful South Head from a distance. You can even treat yourself to a cup of coffee and a slice. From there, we will continue our way back to Manly, passing beautiful Collins Flat Beach, amongst lovely houses and ocean views. We can have a good break at Manly seashore for lunch. Then we will continue along some historic buildings and along the waterfront to the Spit. The walk to the Spit is studded with wildflowers at the moment. It is a wonderful treat to have the sea on your left and the spring flowers on your right. We walk past more beautiful beaches before hitting The Spit. For those who are feeling energetic, we will walk along the waterfront, tide permitting to beautiful Balmoral Beach where you can celebrate with a c0ol drink or ice cream. That will be an extra 3 km. The Bibbulmun Track: Walpole to Albany |
Grade:3/6 |
Length |
180km |
|
Sydney Branch |
Mark G. |
(Fully Booked - Ask leader about waiting list) On this trip we will experience the best that the Bibbulmun Track has to offer in Western Australia. From the small township of Walpole, we will travel along a series of good tracks through the towering Tingle forests, colourful heathlands, beautiful beaches, granite peaks and through the towns of Peaceful Bay and Denmark where new supplies can be purchased, allowing for lighter packs. The tracks are well marked and make for easy walking. Halfway through the walk we will have a rest day in Denmark.
At each campsite there is a hut which can be used as well as water supply, toilets and tables so this is hardly roughing it! The wildflowers at this time of the year are outstanding and you can expect to also see a fair amount of wildlife including seals, quokkas, wallabies and numerous birds to name a few.
In short, this is a fabulous walk and one not to be missed. Limit: 17.

An out and back walk from Kings Tableland Rd to Lions Head before descending to the floor of Kedumba Valley via Lions Pass. We will visit the refurbished Kedumba Farm slab hut before inspecting the ruins and lunching at Kedumba Campground in the lee of Mt. Solitary. We then retrace our steps back to the cars. There is a change in altitude of 500m on this walk but you only really notice the 150m descent and ascent of Lions Pass. Should be still plenty of flowers around and of course the views are to die for. Joint walk with Upper Blue Mtns Bush Club. Walk may be cancelled at short notice if weather is unfavourable. Cars are needed to get to the start of the walk. Contact leader if you need transport. Walkers should be adept with gully scrambling which will be required in the Pass. Gaiters recommended. While this walk is not “Strictly for the Birds”, they do play a major part in it. Between Town Hall and Circular Quay the walk passes some beautiful sculptures of birds (Terrance Plowright's "Dancing Brolgas", Michael Thomas's Hill's "Forgotten Songs", Tracey Emin's " The Distance of your Heart” and Stephen Walker's “Tank Stream” fountains). After a ferry ride the walk then continues on Cockatoo Island where the seagulls are raising their chicks. Live pigeons, ibis and seagulls included! Hazards: city traffic, steps, seagulls.
