Milton Branch |
Paul B. |
Got a friend who has expressed interest in our NPA Milton activities? Here’s an opportunity to bring them to an event and share a social BBQ afterwards. This year we are trialling a walk and BBQ on the first Saturday of each quarter. The first of these will take place on Saturday March 1st.
The walk will introduce your friend to our wonderful program, and hopefully we can attract new members. Distances will be not too far, a bit like a Milton Branch Wednesday walk.

Bungonia Gorge has a vertical side in the section that we walk and is impressive in depth. With a drop of nearly 300 metres in a gorge which is 800 metres long and only 76 metres wide, it is the deepest gorge in Australia. The track is well defined to and from the canyon and is a steep descent/ascent. The canyon itself has a boulder field that is a challenge and a delight to find ways over, under or beside the boulders. The creek has pools as it exits the boulder field and makes its way to join the Shoalhaven River. Starting on the red track we descend into the canyon and then down stream through the boulder field. We will follow the creek to the white track at the confluence with the Shoalhaven River and then up to Mt Ayre lookout for views over the creek and river. Rejoin the red track and back to cars. Possible swim in creek before return on White Track. Boulder field and creek crossings. Location: Bungonia NP Map: Caoura 8928-3N Limit: 12.

About the film: Through the power of personal stories, be taken on a journey to the vast and threatened landscapes of Australia’s largest temperate rainforest in the northwest of Lutruwita / Tasmania. This area, known as Takayna / Tarkine, is one of the last wild places on Earth.
Takayna — the Heart of Lutruwita is an inspiring and hopeful film about the battle to defend Takayna from mining and logging. From frontline activists to Tasmanian Aboriginal community members, scientists and musicians, these people are standing up for its protection, and you can join them too.
Brought to you by the Bob Brown Foundation. Location: Ulladulla
