This beautiful circuit walk goes through a range of dry and wet forest along the valley, and offers some great views. There are plenty of grass trees along the way to add to the scenery and the creek crossings are very picturesque. The side trip to a large Aboriginal engravings site alone is worth the entry price! At this time of the year, there is an abundance of wild flowers. Some rocky steep sections of track. Bring lots of water as it is getting warm.

We stay two nights near the lovely Oldfields Hut and a climb of Mt Bimberi (highest mountain in the ACT) is then an option for us. A full pack walk requiring tents, food, and good gear as the weather can be extreme (and often is). Six nights out with the last spent near cars at Blue Waterholes.

One of the walks we do will be the last leg of the 37 day Save Kosci Walk from Sydney to Mount Kosciusko. I will be traveling to stay at a Perisher Valley Ski Lodge from Thursday to Monday. You can travel on Thursday or Friday and leave Monday. You must arrange your own car transport. Only RSVP if you can commit because pre-payment is required once confirmed. Please indicate the dates of accommodation you require with your full name, I'll see if I can secure accommodation for you. The cost is about $40 per person per night. Bring all food and linen. We must leave the lodge in the same condition we found it. Strong wind, rain, snow patches, slippery sections.

Early start. Leave one vehicle at GR 243 305 on Glen Davis Road and drive to Airly Gap. Ascend the spur towards Airly Turret, then continue clockwise close to the rim of the escarpment all the way to the Ultimate View and to The Citadel and then to the tip of the spur at GR 255 301. Use a known pass to descend to the first car. Pagodas and views paradise. Scrambling and exposure.

Park one vehicle at GR 465 014 off Waratah Ridge Road and another one at about GR 460 005. From the first vehicle, descend into Ethereal Canyon and follow it through a beautiful canyon section and to the falls. No abseiling, but wet feet and more likely. Then visit the small but stunning Midsummers Night Grotto. From there, ascend to the Five Ladies Lookout over the Bungleboori and its pagodas (Three Sisters, watch out). Re-connect with the second car. Spectacular scenery, all unprotected within the State Forest.
