(Fully Booked - Ask leader about waiting list) Set against a great sheer cliff, a flat platform of rock seems to float out above the expansive Carne Creek Valley. This is the “Flying Carpet” and we will take a ride on it for magnificent views across the valley. Make sure you hold on! Time permitting, we will also have a look at some of the big caves and overhangs under the cliffs.
Group numbers are limited due to the short but tricky climb up onto the “Flying Carpet”, and I’m rating it a 5 simply due to this section. You’ll need to be comfortable using a long tape (provided). The rest of the walk is about a grade 4 being almost all off-track walk through gullies with open forest, big cliffs and at least one big cave. Steep rock scrambling with tape and off-track walking. There are parts of the Blue Mountains that are not often visited by the bushwalking community and this is one of them! It's a shame in a way as the Upper Grose has much to offer the adventurous walker including some stunning pagodas, overhangs and pretty cascades to name a few attractions! Come along and find out for yourself what you've been missing out on! rock scrambling Location: Blue Mountains National Park Map: mt.wilson Limit: 15.
