(Fully Booked) One of my favourite fun and easy canyons to do is definitely Birrabang! There are no abseils and only a couple of very short swims under 15 metres, some of which you can avoid by climbing around. It has a few lovely cascades and as a bonus has some truly spectacular pagodas as you walk out via the exit track. Participants should bring a helmet and a wetsuit, as although there aren't many swims, the water you wade through is cold. Rock scrambling and short swims. Starting and ending at Mt Kuring-gai, includes Apple Tree Creek and Bay and adjacent creek. There is a section of off track walking down to Apple Tree Creek and the creek itself has no track. The creek has a gorge and waterfall, a boulder field and clear bedrock sections. The creek mouth is in a tidal mangrove at the back of Apple Tree Bay. The reward for getting through the mangroves is the coffee shop may be open at the boat ramp. The return to Mt Kuring-gai is by a track that follows an old water pipe from Apple Tree Bay to the maintained track from Mt Kuring-gai to Cowan Creek. An additional creek canyon will be walked through. From the track to Cowan creek we turn off and off track to the creek and then down the creek to join the Berowra to Mt Kuring-gai track. Hazards include slippery surfaces and rocks. Multiple creek crossings. Thick scrub off track. High tide in mangroves (low tide at 12:45). Location: Mount Kuring-gai Map: Hornsby 91304S Limit: 12.
