To a Blue Mountains canyon to cool off and revive body and soul! On this trip we will experience not 1 but 3 canyons with Du Faur Canyon being the main course. The equally spectacular, but much shorter October Creek being the entree, and the Joes Canyon the dessert for what promises to be a superb day swimming, paddling and savouring these amazingly beautiful locations. I can promise you an amazing aquatic time! You'll need a helmet, wetsuit and I recommend a flotation device such as a surfmat, and life jacket as there are some longish swims involved. Rock scrambling/off-track walking/swimming.

Time available will decide on including lookout. From track junction continue to Junction with Starlights Trail and then to car parked on Nattai Road. Hazards include river crossings, slippery rocks and hard to follow tracks.

From Watertrough Hill, follow a series of ridges north east and get into the Wollangambe River at around GR 526 916. Swim/float/walk/scramble down the gorge to either the Big Bend or, if time allows, to Wollangambe One entry. Must be able to swim well. Flotation device and helmet are mandatory. Bring dry bags. Wet suit is strongly recommended. About 13 km. Scrambling and exposure. Exploratory.

There is a lookout on the way where you could see Baltzer Lookout and the track down to Hanging Rock. The Head has several viewing points over Grose River valley and Victoria Creek. On the way we will view the magnificient stone walls of the original road from Kangaroo Valley to Mossvale. See the old Timealong Track Road disappear into the waters of Lake Yarrunga and reappear further upstream.  On return to Beehive Point we can optionally poke around the numerous inlets for some bonus paddles. Participants to provide their own craft & are required to wear a correctly fitted PFD. Deep water. Few exit points. Exposed in high winds. Approx 100 m of portage down a road to launch area.

The flannel flowers are abundant at this time of the year. The 10km Manly Scenic Walkway beings at Manly Wharf, passes sandy beaches, ancient Aboriginal sites and incredible lookouts, before arriving at the Spit Bridge where you can catch a bus to the city.
  • Distance and time: 10km one-way
  • Level: Grade 3 track. Suitable for most ages and fitness levels with occasional sections of stairs. There are also sections of sand, bush tracks and boardwalk. Not suitable for prams or wheelchair users.
  • Top attractions: Clontarf ReserveGrotto Point Aboriginal engraving site, Crater Cove Lookout, Forty Baskets Reserve and Manly.
  • Toilet facilities at the start and end of the walk and at Clontarf Reserve, Reef Beach, Forty Baskets Beach, North Harbour Reserve and Fairlight Beach.
  • Drinking fountains are available at Clontarf Reserve, Fairlight Beach and Manly.

The Pinnacles are a fascinating erosion feature with cliffs of soft white sands capped with a layer of red gravel clay deposited up to 65 million years ago. Haycock Point has a picnic area and the opportunity for further walking if desired. Pinnacles have 2 staircases with 60 and 30 steps each.

Park one car near the end of FT 2 and another at GR 427 095 on FT 3 off Glowworm Tunnel Road. From the second car, descend the pass at GR 427 092 and explore Edmund Gully and Falls from the bottom. Find a way down into Carne Creek and walk south and then east up a tributary to visit Devils Throat. Exit at GR 427 073, walk to the Altar and then to the parked car. Wet feet and more. Partly exploratory. About 6 km.

Canyon | A trip through a canyon (a gully surrounded by tall cliffs).60 Best walks | This is one of the NPA's 60 best walks.(Fully Booked) Twister Canyon is, without a doubt, one of the most fun canyons you can do without needing to abseil as it has multiple pools in which to jump and swim or, in places, scramble down. It isn't very long and usually takes about 3 hours and then runs into Rocky Creek Canyon. I plan to do Rocky Creek and depending on time limits,finish the canyon via the exit track at the end of it! Participants must have the following, helmet, wetsuit, PFD and waterproof pack or inner bag. Rock scrambling on slippery rocks.

Enjoy this cooler walk with its spectacular views of Sydney Harbour. We will walk from Watsons Bay to Rose Bay, with possible diversions to South Head or Vaucluse House (outside), depending on what the group prefers and the weather. Lunch and a swim (optional) at the newly reopened Nielson Park. Lunch can be purchased at the kiosk there. Thence we take the Hermitage Foreshore track to Rose Bay, from where buses and ferries can get you home. It includes some street walking. Many stairs and some steep slopes to climb as well as some walking on sandy beaches.
