This remote area first aid course is specifically designed to meet the first aid needs of bushwalkers, wilderness guides, and people who work or live in remote locations. The course covers everything from comprehensive first aid treatments to aeromedical evacuation, long-term care, self-care, and contingency planning. This course is focused on the safety of the first aider and extended care of an ill or injured casualty where help is likely to be delayed or inaccessible. Starting and ending at Mt Kuring-gai, includes Apple Tree Creek and Bay. There is a section of off-track walking down to Apple Tree Creek and the creek itself has no track. The creek has a gorge and waterfall, a boulder field and clear bedrock sections. The creek mouth is in a tidal mangrove at the back of Apple Tree Bay. The reward for getting through the mangroves is the coffee shop is open at the boat ramp. The return to Mt Kuring-gai is by a track that follows an old water pipe from Apple Tree Bay to the maintained track from Mt Kuring-gai to Cowan Creek. This is a short walk about 4-5 Km with 220 m ascent. Hazards include slippery surfaces and rocks. Multiple creek crossings. High tide in mangroves. Drive or walk to GR 332 088 on Blackfellows Hand Trail. Walk north through the magnificent Temple of Doom and then continue exploring the pagodas on the east side of the ridge, heading north. Arrive at the high cliffs above Wolgan Valley and then walk to Lost Arc Point. After enjoying the stunning views, proceed under the cliffs and into Indiana Gorge. Check out the amazing Indiana Slot and the rest of this scenic hidden valley. Exit the gorge at the south end and make our way back to the cars. 8-12 km, depending on the road access. Starting at the Lockley Pylon trackhead, we follow the walking track to Du Faurs, desend on Shortridge Pass and cross Govetts creek. Long Point Lookout bestows an inspiring view of the spectacular Shoalhaven Gorge which is bisected by the Shoalhaven River. The lookout is located just outside the small village of Tallong, which is seven kilometres east of Marulan and is home to two magnificent lookouts, Badgerys and Long Point.
To access Long Point Lookout, head west of Tallong for just over two kilometres back towards Marulan, then turn left onto Long Point Road and follow to the end (approximately five kilometres).
An easy walking trail will take you to the upper lookout with views of the Shoalhaven River. A steep and more challenging walk will take you to the Shoalhaven River. Location: Tallong Limit: 8. View |

A short day. Park on T3 Trail at the junction with Cabbage Tree Creek Trail, GR 808 979. Walk on the trail till 806 984, then drop into a tributary, which may contain a giant Turpentine tree. Continue down to Cabbage Tree Creek and walk upstream for as long as our interest takes us. Exit to T3 Trail and walk back to the cars. This is a combined activity with Menai Wildflower Group (MWG) who will guide us to the site.
Parkesvale is in the Georges River National Park and is accessed from Heathcote Road. The walk is about 1.2km each way, starting at the Sandy Point Community Centre car park (200 St George Crescent, Sandy Point) and is mostly on a fire trail along the southern bank of the Georges River. A short section is on a bush track which is sometimes muddy and there is an optional side trip, of about 50m on a rough track, to an indigenous rock art site.
Parkesvale was established by the Sandbrook brothers of Camperdown 1899 as a pleasure ground and night-time dance venue on the Georges River with up to 800 patrons reported dancing there to a band on a Saturday night. It operated until about 1912 with patrons conveyed to Parkesvale, from Como Station, by the paddlewheel steam ferry Telephone, the largest ferry to ever ply the Georges River.

A scenic and relaxed pace ride on cycle paths and cycle routes around the foreshore. Passing through historical properties, then cross over on the punt. Return to the start over John Whitton Bridge. There are train stations along the way if you prefer a shorter ride or getting tired. Unfortunately, riding an e-bike on this trip will mean that you are not covered under NPA club insurance; Bushwalking Australia is working to see if it can be covered for future trips. Mostly on cycle paths, but some road crossings with vehicle traffic. Be aware of other track users, debris /damage/uneven path, and possible mechanical failers. Limit: 10. View |
