Cooper Park's worth as a recreation area was recognised as far back as 1885 when the Government was asked to purchase land from the Cooper Estate for recreational purposes. It was not until 1913 that Sir William Cooper agreed to give the whole of the gully from Victoria Road, Bellevue Hill to Manning Road, Double Bay to the Council as a park. Subsequent additions over the years have brought the Park up to its present area of 38 acres (15 ha.) The creek running through the Park is largely natural and follows the line of a volcanic dyke of the Jurassic age while the hillsides support a wide variety of native trees and shrubs. Development over the years included extensive walking tracks/paths, with shelter sheds built and picnic areas laid out. View

Coledale Station to Bulli Station via Coledale Beach, Shark Park, past Headland Hotel, Austinmer Beach, Thirroul Beach, McCauley’s Beach, Sandon Point and Beach. Break away points available at Austinmer and Thirroul. Ocean views most of the day. Quiet street walking and hopefully only a little main road walking. There is a patrolled surf beach and rock pool at Austinmer, a patrolled surf beach and concrete swimming pool at Thirroul and patrolled surf beaches at Sandon Point and Bulli if walkers wish to leave the walk to swim at any of those places and find their own way back to a train station. Lots of ups and downs. Steps. Well formed sealed paths. Some unsealed tracks which could be muddy following rain. Shared pathways. Possible sand walking and wet feet. Walking poles might assist. Walk | A bushwalk of any kind short or longFind out why this area must be better protected for future generations. Ben Bullen State Forest west of the Great Dividing Range encapsulates, in a relatively small area, everything that is exciting and interesting about bushwalking – incredible rock sculptures, tall pagodas, narrow slot canyons, magnificent caves, verdant forests and more. About 8k. Scrambling and exposure.

Walk | A bushwalk of any kind short or longFully Vaccinated | All participants must be able to show proof they are fully vaccinated against COVID-19 to particpate.(Fully Booked) (Start time changed to 9:00am) This park protects the largest surviving koala population in greater Sydney. Stokes and O’Hares Creeks enclose a succession of idyllic waterholes, three of which are accessed on this delightful walk. Keep looking up for those koalas! Hazards: Well-formed tracks/fire trails. One steep section of track. Some clambering down sandstone near swimming holes. Slippery Rocks. One steep section of track. Walking poles would be handy.
