5 Lands Walk |
Southern Sydney Branch |
Esther |
Co-Leader: Heather Lakiss. The 5 Lands Walk is a physical, spiritual and cultural journey. A gift to you from the communities and sponsors of the Central Coast. A place where no one is excluded. A place where family, friends and the wider community are encouraged to celebrate life, have fun and connect to our deep Aboriginal history, European settlement, and who we are today. In doing so we take a step to create a more harmonious and inclusive society on the Central Coast and beyond. The 5 Lands Walk is a day-long festival held on the Saturday closest to the winter solstice when the whales, a significant totem of the Darkinjung people, are migrating north, along 10 km of spectacular coastline.
In 2006 we were inspired by Italy's Cinque Terra, but we created our own uniquely Australian event, a collaboration between the Aboriginal and broader communities, to connect people to people and people to place. We've been improving it every year since.
2021 will see many old favourites plus some new features and events. Roughly 22 000 people are estimated to join us this year, so be prepared to be inspired. Map: Central Coast Limit: 10.

(Date Changed) A lovely pack walk on the Thorsbourne Trail on Hinchinbrook Island in Queensland. This is one of Queensland’s Great Walks and is a wonderful mixture of rainforest and beaches. Some great campsites; some nice swimming holes; mostly short days; with at least one 2-night stop, all make this a really terrific walk. There is great demand for the limited walk permits at this time of the year so we need to book close to the possible one-year in advance. Seven days (6 nights) of actual walking. A day of snorkeling on the reef prior to the walk is also planned. Location: Hinchinbrook Limit: 8.
