(Date Changed) How many times have you seen Mt Hay in the distance but you've never been up it. The top has trees, the view from there is not great but worth having a go.
Meet at Leura station.
Drivers required. Drive to the end of Mt Hay Road.
Walk to Butterbox Lookout. Great views here on a clear day.
Then walk up Mt Hay and beyond.
Return to cars and Leura station.

The team will be working there again on 11th November, and they are keen to show NPA members what they have achieved and how they work. We get to see the historical archaeology they have uncovered, and we also see a little visited corner of the park.

Leaving the fire trail there are a couple of steep gullies to negotiate before joining an old fire trail and then a bush track leading to the escarpment. Wildflowers are prolific and the view is spectacular. Steep rough track, slippery creek crossing, fallen trees, unfenced cliff edges. NOTE: Sections of this track have become quite overgrown.
