Darryl Jones is Professor Emeritus of ecology at Griffith University in Brisbane, where he has spent over 30 years investigating the interactions between people and birds. He has written over 200 scientific articles and 8 books, the latest being Curlews on Vulture Street (2022) and Getting to Know the Birds in Your Neighbourhood (2023). View |

Gardens of Stone SCA/Ben Bullen State Forest west of the Great Dividing Range encapsulates, in a relatively small area, everything that is exciting and interesting about bushwalking – incredible rock sculptures, tall pagodas, narrow slot canyons, magnificent caves, verdant forests and more. This unique area is currently under serious threat from mining. Find out why this area must be protected for future generations. About 8k. All off-track, some rock scrambling and exposure. Hopefully, this is the last Sunday of walking in the shade. We will start from Thornleigh Station & follow the GNW along the creeks, river & tall trees to Browns Waterhole. We then again follow the creeks with birds chirping above to Eastwood. The GNW section is moderately challenging with creek crossings & can be slippery. Creek crossings & slippery.
