Walk | A bushwalk of any kind short or longFamily | A trip that is planned to cater for children and their parents.First time friendly | A trip that is perfect for most new members (assuming you have a reasonable level of fitness)Photography | A trip that has a strong focus on encouraging people to capture photographs.Slow pace | A trip where the leader will set an easy pace. The Pass of Sabugal was named by Sir Thomas Mitchell in 1843 after a place in Portugal where a major battle between the English and French took place in 1811. This is where the Old Illawarra Road, surveyed by Mitchell and cleared by the last convict road gang in NSW, crossed the Woronora River over a causeway. Although the road, now a fire trail, has been upgraded several times and the causeway is now concrete, it is largely faithful to the original line of road. This area was also the location of depression-era housing in the 1930s and the scant remains of around twelve houses can still be identified. We will also visit the remains of John Lucas’ watermill, built in 1825. John Lucas had a substantial land grant here and built his mill about 100 meters downstream from the causeway. The area above the mill is today known as ‘Lucas Heights’. Bushfires and floods have removed all traces of the timber building, but beam slots excavated in the rock and the remains of the mill dam give us a good idea of the mill's size and what it would have looked like. Although the walk is not long, a bit over 1km, the drawback is the steep climb back up the hill when the excursion is over. Meet opposite 89 Thomas Mitchell Drive, Barden Ridge.

No need to RSVP.  Camellia Gardens.  Located in Caringbah and overlooking beautiful Yowie Bay, the Gardens were recognised by the International Camellia Society as a Camellia Gardens of Excellence in 2014.  There are sixty Camellia Gardens of Excellence in the world, with the Camellia Gardens and Lisgar Gardens in Hornsby being the only two in NSW.
The Gardens have over 400 cultivars and species donated and acquired since its first plantings began in 1969, in addition to many other rare ornamental and native plants. The collection is of unique value to Australian horticulture. The Gardens have something for all seasons. The camellias are in season during autumn and winter. Tea house serves delicious devonshire and lunches.   We will play by ear.  A walk at Woronora Cemetery can be added on.

Grade:5/6 Length 8km  300m Sydney Branch

Walk | A bushwalk of any kind short or long(Updated Details) I've wanted to climb the Citadel for a long time and to explore the area to the north, around the Ultimate View and the nearby clifflines/slots and terraces. So I look forward to being able to do this with like-minded, adventurous people in an area not often visited due to its rugged nature. The walk is generally a grade 5, but for those who want to climb the Citadel, it will be a grade 6. Rock scrambling and off-track walking.
