Co-leader John Kennett. Early start. Park some cars at GR 813 962 on Mountain Lagoon Trail and drive other cars to the locked gate on the North Wheeny Gap Trail. Walk to the end of the trail and descend to Wheeny Gap and pools. After a quick swim, find a way through the cliffs to the north, aiming at GR 803 930. If time permits, explore a couple high points for views, then follow a north-trending ridge through Green Scrub and to the parked vehicles. About 14 km. Scrambling and exposure. Mostly exploratory. (Date Changed) Bundanoon Creek offers some spectacular cliff faces.  From Tallowa Dam Picnic area we head NE up Lake Yarrunga (Kangaroo River) for 2.5km then head north into Bundanoon Creek for 4.5km to the head waters. On the return, we will take a short 2km detour up Sandy Creek before heading back to the start. Participants to provide their own craft & are required to wear a correctly fitted PFD. Deep water. (Fully Booked) This is a Xmas walk organised by Bob Rankin and Esther. Join us to celebrate Steve's birthday as well.   A walk in Green Square/Zetland/Waterloo area.  See the multimillion dollar terraces, jungles of apartments as well as the low cost housing. Discover the Drying Green, The Green Square Library (Queen Camilla visited on 22/10/24), The glamorous Waterloo metro station)  The Waterloo Library, The Waterloo Community Garden, various reserves, witness the good work of OzHarvest. See Tony Abbott’s marriage mural. After the walk, lunch will be at a private rooftop garden with a small pool.  Bob Rankin  will provide Prosecco, chicken, sausage,  2 salads and Ricotta cheese cake at a cost of $20, RSVP commences 27 November 2024 and closes 11:59 pm 6 December 2024.  Non-refundable payment will be required when you RSVP. This walk takes in some of the most stunning sections of Kangaroo creek downstream of Karloo pools where there is a ton of inviting swimming pools to keep you cool when the Summer sun is beating down. I plan to stop and have a swim in many of these along the way down this pristine watercourse. The walk out of Kangaroo creek is via a shady forested ridge track back to Heathcote station. The Bargo River flows into Mermaid Pools and then on through the Tahmoor Gorge. This walk beside the river passes next to the pools and then descend to the gorge and river. Impressive views of the Mermaid Pools and water falls and cascades in the gorge. The track joins the valley floor and crosses the river twice then returns to the cliff edge via Rosies Pass. Return back to cars via views of Mermaid Pools and the Bargo River. A short walk with time for a swim in the river canyon. Hazards include slippery rocks, steep descents, river crossings. Private property access has been arranged. Park at GR 790 997 on Long Ridge Trail. Get down to Cabbage Tree Creek at around GR 793 012 via Long Ridge Knife-edge. Walk down to Tootie Creek and continue up Middle Creek. Exit at GR 779 013, climb south to a saddle, then descend into Tootie Creek. Walk up to around GR 773 007, then sidle counterclockwise to about GR 771 996. Find a way up to the top Long Ridge West and walk back to the vehicles. About 10 km. Scrambling and exposure. The walk will use a series of bush tracks from the eastern end of Excelsior Avenue along sections of Darling Mills Creek and its feeder Creeks. Well shaded. Will spot Native orchids. Coffee to finish: probably the best option is to hop on a bus on Old Northern Road and go to Castle Towers or The Grove at Baulkham Hills. View

It's that time of the year again, when the NPA walking community/family come together to celebrate the past year over good food and drink, have a swim, snorkel and enjoy each other's company at one of Sydney's most famous beaches. Please bring food to share, swimmers and snorkelling gear if that's your interest, to a place where you can socialise and look forward to what the upcoming festive season and new year has to offer.
