Visit an aboriginal site and the historic saw mill, and  a few rocky vantage points, which offered spectacular views of the valley. Contact leader with details of NPA membership number, contact and emergency numbers. Walk from Hornsby Railway Station to the Great North Walk (GNW) track via the Bluegum Walk. In this area are old sandstone steps built during the 1930's depression. At the GNW track we will head in a southerly direction to The Jungo Rest Area. At the Jungo Rest area, we will veer to our left following the Zig Zag Creek until we come to a bridge across the creek. (at this point time permitting we will walk up to an old quarry.) The GNW track then goes to our right along a fire trail for a very short distance before we turn left along the last section of bush track as we enter suburbia. It is now street walking to Thornleigh Railway station. Slippery and muddy sections may be encountered. Possibility of fallen trees.

Then up onto the spectacular Illawarra Escarpment for a superb scenic journey past too many lookouts to name. We will keep going all the way to Sublime Point for a well-earned lunch break and perhaps coffee and the strategically placed cafe there! Then its a descent via ladders down to Austinmer station and a train home. Track steep in places

Walk from North Ryde Metro Station to the Lane Cove River via Great North Walk (GNW). Cross the river at Epping Road and leave the GNW. Walk and explore the various tracks along the river to Fullers Bridge where we will pick up the GNW again. Hopefully, we will be able to view Fairyland on the opposite side of the river. Proceed back to the North Ryde Metro Station. Possibility of muddy and slippery tracks. Fallen trees.

At the junction with the old haulway, climb up to the cliff edge overlooking Torbane. Investigate the area for old infrastructure and possibly clamber down some of the descent into Torbane. Return via the track network on Mount Airly. About 12 km.

Park on the road from Mount Airly to Genowlan Trig where there is suitable space. Walk up the road to the top of the plateau and then take the road to Genowlan Trig. Leave this road at about GR 253 320 and head east to the top, southern end of the Valley of the Dinosaurs. We will then proceed down the valley stopping to explore as many slots as possible on both sides. Next, visit the Ultimate Slot and then return to the road and to the vehicles. Scrambling and exposure.

Walk | A bushwalk of any kind short or longPublic Transport | There are public transport options to and from this activity.See info on The Great West Walk  https://greatwestwalk.com.au/ This section is a variation of the Great West Walk(GWW).  The Great West Walk is from Parramatta to Penrith.  As the series Crossing the Blue Mountains is from Mount York to Emu Plains, we redesign the GWW to from Parramatta to Emu Plains. Part one will start from Ropes Crossing to Emu Plains.  Soon after we get off the bus, we will arrive at the historic Ropes Creek Station.  Then we proceed to Wianamatta Regional Park which has a variety of trees, vegetation, swamps and birds.  We walk through some newer suburbs of the area, lakes and walk to Emu Plains station via The Great River Walk. Slippery sections. As this is a 19km walk, We need to walk at a brisk pace of 5 kph so as to finish the walk at a reasonable time.

Walk upstream along Tootie Creek till Front Creek at GR 698 927. Climb through a cliff line using a slot, then follow the creek back to Hanlons Road North. There are several points of interest along the way. A short day (about 4-5 hours). Scrambling and exposure.

It is suitable for both people in workplaces and members of the public who want training in first aid.
