Leader: Philip Wright. Philip has an insider's knowledge of the The Australian Botanic Garden Mount Annan. The garden showcases Australian flora amongst 416 hectares of rolling hills, lakes, lawns and gardens. In the late 18th century, the discovery of a new continent filled with exotic plants unknown to the rest of the world created waves of excitement in the field of botany. The Australian Botanic Garden displays approximately 2000 of these plants via themed gardens across the site as well as the Connections Garden, a four-hectare intensely cultivated space right in the heart of the Garden. Other features of the Garden include a restaurant, visitor center with gift shop, free gas barbecues and acres of Cumberland Plain Woodland to explore. Come Spring, the paper daisies become an attraction for visitors. Various species of Waratahs will be flowering too. After seeing the floral display, we will walk to the Sundial, Mount Annan Peak, the Blue Tree before leaving the Garden to visit Lake Yandel'ora before catching the bus home. Expect a long day. Not suitable for walkers who need to get back by a certain time. Limit: 10.

A repeat of last year's walk which was just awesome; one of the very best in Kosciuszko area. Email for an information pack about the walk. A six-night full pack walk involving Daveys Hut, Kidmans Hut, and Mawsons Hut. Exact details will be determined by weather and other factors. We camp near these huts but not in them so everyone must be fully equipped for the variety of conditions in the area which can be very variable. We stay at ski lodge in Jindabyne for a night on either side of the walk with our regular BBQ overlooking the lake. We need some suitable cars in order to access the start of the walk. Always a pleasure walking in Kosciuszko area and this walk has everything: magnificent scenery; lovely bush; great campsites; and some challenging walking. Not to be missed! A repeat for those who missed the walk last year (like me!). The Pretty Plain area is a lovely part of Kosciuszko National Park. Great scenery, lovely bushland, and two of the best of the huts to camp nearby. Even better, we spend multiple days near each hut (two nights at Pretty Plain and three nights at Wheelers). Access is via Dargals Trail to Pretty Plain (a new way thanks the exploration of the last year's group). We return along Pretty Plain, Hell Hole Track and take the shortcut across to Wheelers Hut. Return from Wheelers Hut is again via Dargals Trail. At the start and end of walk we stay at a Ski Lodge at Jindabyne with the usual BBQs on the deck overlooking the lake. A lovely walk with relaxing time near the huts. Location: Kosciuszko NP Limit: 12.
