![]() (Fully Booked - Ask leader about waiting list) This walk came from having walked to the end of two tracks at the end of fire trails, then looking at a map and seeing how close they are with a creek in between. Blue Mountain Creek is joined by following Kent Street fire trail to its end then following the spur down to the confluence of Blue Mountain Creek with the creek from Empire Pass Track. Continuing down the creek with multiple crossings, and wet feet, to the confluence with a creek from Amphitheatre Falls. Explore the canyon and unnamed falls. Exit the creek valley by a series of passes through the sandstone cliff line and up the spur to the end of Blue Mountain track. Track joins North Lawson fire trail and then walk back to Lawson via Empire Pass track. Blue Mountain Creek is lined with lush rain forest and ferns and is seldom visited. No track through this section.

(Updated Details) Starting from Buxton Ave on the edge of Nattai NP, we follow a short distance on fire trails to the Blue Gum Lookout for morning tea. We will then back track a little and pick up a newly marked track and make our way down to a creek gully. We will follow this creek bed down to the Blue Gum Forest and onto the W41 Fire Road in Thirlmere Lakes NP. We follow this road a short distance then head off track up 160m to rejoin our morning tea spot and follow the fire trails back to our cars.
NOTES: New walk. A little more challenging than last year's route but no car shuffle and some magnificent sandstone cliffs. Uneven and possibly slippery track in places. Off track section. A walk for those who love rock scrambling,pagodas in abundance, interesting slots, ramps, passageways and even squeezy bits! Needless to say this walk has all of the above including the Ultimate View and a place which will leave you breathing hard, the birthing canal pass! Actually for this trip I'll have a tape so if you don't want to experience the aforementioned pass you don't have to and you can climb down beside it. In any case you must be prepared for plenty of offtrack walking and some scrubbashing. Although this walk goes past the Citadel it's an optional climb for those who don't want to attempt it. ![]() Ropes practise day at Mount York. This day is aimed for those who have abseiled before and have their own equipment. It will be compulsory to have a harness, helmet, safety tether, descending device for single rope. We will be practising abseiling on small pitches, gradually moving up in difficulty to an overhang. There will be breaks where we will also practise knots that are commonly used when canyoning. There will be a chance to use prussiks to climb back up a pitch and to also use mechanical ascenders. A fee of $5.00 each will be collected to cover wear and tear on ropes supplied by members. There will a number of safety briefings spread throughout the day and we will have a chance to practise tying off part way through an abseil and then untying and recommencing the abseil. We will practise double fishermans, tape knot, stone knot and munter hitch. Short lengths of knot practise rope and tape will be provided. Abseiling is a dangerous activity that could result in death or serious injury. All attendees must sign NPA's Risk Waiver Form prior to commencing the activity. All abseils are adjacent a cliff, and any member within two body lengths of the cliff edge must be attached to a safety tether.Location: Blue Mountains National Park Limit: 12. View |

![]() ![]() A fairly gentle walk in the lower Blue Mountains that includes visiting Lennox Bridge, the oldest stone arch bridge on mainland Australia (1833) and great views over Sydney from Marges and Elizabeth's lookouts. Walking under the highway near the RAAF base we discover a disused railway tunnel and an old tramway. We will follow the tramway to its end and discover why it was built. Then we walk to Lapstone Station to catch the train home. Booking essential giving your NPA, mobile and emergency contact numbers, unless I already have them. From Wattle Ridge Rd car park, we will head off along the Nattai Ridge fire trail. After a few kms, we will leave the fire trail and follow a fence line to a rarely visited track leading down to a creek that we will follow down to some magnificent sandstone cliffs and overhangs for lunch. The track then continues up to join the Rocky Waterholes track where we will duck out to the Rocky Water Holes lookout before returning to the start via fire trails.
