(NEW!!!) Well, it's that time of year again when all keen walkers head down to the Kosciuszko National Park to explore, engage with nature and experience the beauty of the region and the superb walks that the high country has to offer. The Alpine flowers should be at their peak at this time of year, and the fresh air is most invigorating! Also, there is a new major track to check out and much, much more.
As in previous years, we will stay at Charlottes Pass in a very comfortable abode, The Southern Alps ski lodge, and from this centrally located residence, we will venture out on day walks. This lodge is totally DIY and rooms are twin-share with larger rooms accommodating up to 4 people. There are no single rooms and anyone coming who is single should be prepared to share a room with at least 1 other member. Of course I'll arrange rooms with a woman sharing with another woman and visa versa! Needless to say, this trip is always my most popular of the year, so if interested, don't delay. The Pretty Plain area is a lovely part of Kosciuszko National Park. Great scenery, lovely bushland, and two of the best of the huts to camp nearby. Even better, we spend multiple days near each hut (two nights at Pretty Plain and three nights at Wheelers).
Access is via Dargals and Hell Hole Trails to Pretty Plain. We return along Pretty Plain and take the shortcut across to Wheelers Hut. Return is again via Dargals Trail.
At the start and end of walk we stay at a Ski Lodge at Jindabyne with the usual BBQs on the deck overlooking the lake. A lovely walk with lots of relaxing time. Location: Kosciuszko NP Limit: 12.

My wife and I are joining an Exodus Travels trip to Ecuador in November 2025 for 14 days, which will combine wildlife watching and walking, including visiting ancient ruins and some local culture thrown in. Strictly limited spaces, so if interested, please contact me asap.
Before the Ecuador trip we'll be going on 2 short trips in Peru, one to Machu Picchu and another to a research station in the middle of the Amazon. Both of these are relatively cheap trips.
