This is a great coastal walk to escape the heat. There are great views en route and the invitation to have a surf at Bondi at the conclusion of the walk. You can purchase your lunch at Bondi, too. Park at GR 792 887 on Bells Line of Road, climb onto the ridge to the north and continue to GR 800 906, where the ridge splits. Take the left branch and find a way down via this narrow spur to Wheeny Creek at around GR 798 921. Walk to Wheeny Gap, stop for a swim. Find a way up to the east of Wheeny Gap – there are currently two options that can be investigated. Both these options lead back to the ridge, from where we will walk to the cars. (Fully Booked) Leader: Allan Porter and Philip Wright. The most spectacular display of glow worms in Blue Mountains is found at Burralow Creek . It is Australia’s answer to New Zealand’s Waitomo Caves. The rock walls around Bulcamatta Falls are inhabited by thousands upon thousands of glow worms. It’s like standing in the middle of a galaxy surrounded by billions of stars. Starting from Burralow Creek campground, we walk once during the day so as to familiarise with the route in day light. Then we have a break to set up camp or to check in at accommodation, then have dinner before we walk in the dark to see the Glowworms. Allan is planning to camp. Philip is planning to stay at Archibald Hotel at Kurrajong. Camp ground is available at Burralow Creek. Booking is walker’s own responsibility. You must commit to both day and evening walks before RSVP. Bright headlamp, preferably with red light, with spare batteries is essential for your safety. If you arrive with no headlamp, you will be turned back. Next day, we will do some other hikes, maybe Mount Tomah and Mount Banks before heading home, depending on weather.... how much rain and state of trail.. Crossing creek. Limit: 9. View |

As it will be in the middle of summer and possibly hot, activities will not be set in concrete. However walks from the campsite to Jibbon Beach, Jibbon Head, Aboriginal rock carvings and possibly a litter further on Saturday will be available, and on Sunday, wander across the bridge up to Maianbar. Plenty of opportunity the rest of the day for swimming, kayaking, paddle boards etc and a quiet supper on the beach watching the sun go down. Kayaks can be hired, or bring your own watercraft. There are many tall trees along the way before we reach Lane Cove NP. We then follow the Great North Walk to get to Woolwich. We will see many historic & heritage listed houses in Hunters Hills. Bring your own kayak or rent. Book kayaks with leader at least 1x week beforehand. From Bowral Pool we depart at 8:30 am which is one hour earlier than normal departure time. We drive to Safari Kayaking located in Kangaroo Valley arriving around 9’ish where we select our kayaks/canoes and life jackets. Kangaroo Safari will transport our kayaks to Bendeela and the car pool follows on. Once set up and in the water, we head upstream for about 3km to a lunch spot and then make our way back to Bendeela where our boats are returned to Safari Kayaking and we drive back to Bowral. The cost per person for boat hire (TBC). Leader will provided details when established with hire co. Cash payable on the day. Please have the right amount of cash as we need to make a single payment. Cossies, hat, sunscreen and plenty of drinking water will be the go. Mostly still water. Possibility of one short section with quick flow if river is flowing.
