This is a spectacular area containing pagodas, gullies, cliffs and fabulous views. From the northern side of the Grose Valley you experience a different perspective. Mostly on track & under the rain forest canopy with excellent lookouts and 2 solid climbs. We will visit the imposing Lawrence Hargrave monument, view the remnants of a coal mine and see the sculptures acknowledging the local Aboriginal, Wodi Wodi people, account of the 5 islands formation.
Potential side trip to Robertsons lookout (adds 2km), and late lunch in the Botanical Gardens, time dependant.

From Huntleys Point this walk meanders around under Gladesville Bridge to Tarban Creek. It heads upstream before crossing over the ridge and Victoria Road to the scenic foreshore of Parramatta River, following it downstream past historic Bedlam Point. It climbs up through the grounds of the old Gladesville Hospital, returning to Huntley's Point Ferry. This is a circular walk. Hazards: very few steps and short section of rough track. Walk part of Shaw's Ridge Track, then steep down to Blue Gum Track. Grotto, lovely ferny track, then up to Springwood Ridge Track and St Columba School. Near Hawkesbury Road various track along Birdwood Gully and Springwood Creek to Springwood Station. Option for an exploratory side track (marked on All Trails but I haven't found it yet). (Fully Booked) McPhails Fire Trail is a downhill walk from the highlands into Kangaroo Valley. The Pipeline Lookout is an excellent morning tea stop before descending through rainforest and around Mt Carrialoo into the valley.

(Fully Booked) We have an opportunity to explore some of the best of the North Shore of Sydney Harbour.
Starting at Balmoral Beach with its little jetty and huge fig trees; to Middle Head to explore fortifications and cliff top views beyond the Heads; then through angophora trees to Georges Heights and barracks converted to artist studios; and on to Clifton Gardens for lunch. Then we will walk beside secluded bays to the navy memorials at Bradley’s Head. Then it is a short walk to Taronga Zoo for a Ferry to Circular Quay and trains home.
It all starts by boarding the first carriage of the SHL train at 7.14 am in Bowral and arriving in Wynyard at 9.45 then a bus or taxis to Balmoral beach. After coffee we shall start our walk at about 10:30 am.
The walk is about 11kms. It takes about 4 hours and 45 mins including lunch and many stops along the way ( but not for cafes or a swim ). See what Arthur Streeton saw when he did some of his finest work.
- See the lizards, lorikeets, wrens and bush turkeys.
- Listen to the currawongs. Hear the waves, lapping at the shore.
- Enter the fortifications where microbats now live.
We aim to arrive at Taronga Zoo in time for connections to SHL train departing Central at 4pm.

We will visit houses from the late 1800s. The first stop is 26 Oxford Street, an old convent formerly known as St Bede’s Convent and High School Sisters of the Good Samaritan. We will then cross the road to 7 Oxford Street, a turn of the century, worker's semi-detached cottage. We will then take a short walk around the block to the historic Albemarle Street and visit the abode of folk artist and long-time resident and local legend Dianne Gallagher. In this trip we not only walk the many beautiful tracks, but also learn from the local experts why the island is so special in the stories of evolution and conservation. You may also encounter one of the most unique birds which was the reason of David Attenborough's 1997 visit. The trip package includes flights, accommodation, restaurant meals, lectures, guided walks, low tide reef walks and night walks. You can also enjoy your own walks, snorkelling, golfing, etc.. Find out why this part of the Gardens of Stone must be better protected for the future generations.
Park the vehicles at around GR 306 175 on the branch road off the Bicentennial National Trail. Follow the Great Dividing Range north to Gordian Knot and then to Witches Watch, a spectacular lookout above Hecates Cauldron. From here, descend into the Cauldron and explore it underneath the cliff lines and also above, amidst “the bubbles”. Visit the Tower of Hope and other features. Descend into the headwaters of Baal Bone Creek, cross the valley and climb up through Tara Slot onto Tara Point. More amazing views. From here, move up to the ridge and re-connect with the vehicles. A week of bush regeneration based at beautiful Kylies Beach, hosted by Mid North Coast branch. Volunteers welcome to come for however long they like.
We have a trailer with bbq plate, urn, sink and all eating and cooking utensils. Dinner provided on Saturday night. Opportunity to walk around Diamond Head with its spectacular views, have a swim or drop a line in.
