A 3-day pack walk. Day 1 - Park on Nullo Mountain Road at GR 398 740, walk Nullo East Trail and get down into Widden Brook at about GR 404 730. Continue down Widden Brook and camp depending on the progress, probably at Coricudgy Creek junction. Day 2 – Walk down Widden Brook, take water and climb towards Hool ‘Em Boy Point. Camp at one of several panoramic points, depending on the progress. Day 3 – continue up Nullo Mountain, join with Nullo East Trail and re-connect with the cars. Partly exploratory. (Fully Booked) Co-Leader : Ewan Cain. The track leads off to the south from the Bell's Line of Road between Mount Tomah and the Mount Wilson turn-off, and there is a sign indicating Mount Banks. You can park at the end of the road. Walk out to the lookout and return over the top. This is a lovely walk and not too difficult. There are superb views of the Grose Valley at the lookout and wonderful northern views as you come down off Mount Banks. There are many wildflowers at this time of the year. Last year, I saw many wildflowers including Waratahs, Sun orchids, Pea flowers, Bororia, Flannel flowers, native iris, white grevilleas and otheres. If time allows, we'll visit Mount Tomah to see the beautiful waratahs and proteas on the way back. Video of Martins Lookout to Lost World. We are following Hunts Creek down to where it is dammed to form Lake Parramatta. Along the caves in this valley bushrangers including Jack Donohue, the "Wild Colonial Boy" and his gang sheltered. We will have time for a bit of an exploration of Lake Parramatta. Some street walking and roads to cross. Trip hazards on tracks and some creek crossings but geneally pretty easy walking. Take a left fork leading to Rocky Waterholes Lookout and just past this junction look for a right turn which meanders along the ridge to Ahearn's Lookout. On Saturday 19 September we will be meeting at Ascot Drive, Chippington Norton, 8:15am for an 8:30 start. Cycling mostly on quiet roads and bike paths to Canley Vale for coffee, then on bike paths to the M7 cycle way, then to Rooty Hill Pub for lunch (or BYO). Continue to Richmond Road cycle path, then onto Windsor. I have booked a room at the Windsor Hotel, 54 George Street, Windsor. Best to book your accommodation early, after contacting leader. Local Pub for dinner (possibility of a band Saturday night). Sunday 20 September, Windsor Mall Markets from 9am, departing Windsor approx. 10am. ""Picnic lunch"" on the way back. Returning to Chipping Norton between 4 - 5pm. Limited numbers. Approx. 65 kms each way. A social weekend away. View |
