(Cancelled) LEADER: Lynne Hewitt: See Costa's video: https://vimeo.com/759335207 Take ferry to Rose Bay to visit Coopers Park, Blackburn Gardens and Woollahra Gallery. Cooper Park is a large bushland reserve with many walking tracks and recreational facilities available. Cooper Park's worth as a recreation area was recognised as far back as 1885 when the Government was asked to purchase land from the Cooper Estate for recreational purposes. It was not until 1913 that Sir William Cooper agreed to give the whole of the gully from Victoria Road, Bellevue Hill to Manning Road, Double Bay to the Council as a park. Subsequent additions over the years have brought the Park up to its present area of 38 acres (15 ha.) The creek running through the Park is largely natural and follows the line of a volcanic dyke of the Jurassic age while the hillsides support a wide variety of native trees and shrubs. Development over the years included extensive walking tracks/paths, with shelter sheds built and picnic areas laid out. Some muddy sections. Some steep climb View |

The walk will include the Christmas lunch for SWAG walkers, which we will have in Timbrell Park, adjacent to Livvi’s Cafe. You can bring your own lunch, or buy a panino or burger from the cafe - and a coffee, of course. Livvi’s is operated by a charity employing disabled people, deserving of our patronage. There is an opportunity early in the walk to purchase a treat for morning tea at Pasticceria Tamborrino, and an opportunity at the end of the walk to have a coffee or traditional gelato (pistachio is highly recommended) at Papa’s or San Silvestro in Haberfield. When registering, please indicate if you wish to contribute $10 towards a slice of Italian cake and prosecco at the lunch break - if enough say yes, leader will arrange for those agreeing to participate (minimum of 10 required). (Fully Booked - Ask leader about waiting list) Deep Pass Canyon is quite possibly the easiest wet canyon you can do and you can normally manage to stay dry for most of of this trip if you are agile. Even then you'll only normally get wet up to your waist.
There are no abseils but there are quite a few places where you need to haul yourself up short length ropes. Along the way you'll encounter many small and stunning waterfalls and cascades where a swim is certainly worthwhile experiencing! Before the canyon we will do a short sidetrip to the impressive Split Rock which has some interesting tunnels within its imposing structure. Rock scrambling and slippery bits. (Date Changed) Expressions of Interest sought for a four week adventure including plenty of opportunity for walking. It will operate as a tag-along (self-drive convoy) 4WD trip with new locations on most days. You may camp, attach a vehicle camper (preferred) or tow an off-road camper-trailer.
Mallee country, visiting Murray-Sunset NP, Big Desert Wilderness Park & Wyperfeld NP featuring a vast desert with saltbush flats and grassland plains scattered with sand dunes and the famous Pink Lakes are outstanding subjects for photography, with large numbers of emus, kangaroos, native birds, attractive woodlands and colourful spring wildflower displays.
Followed by The Grampians NP, spectacular mountain peaks and dramatic rock formations feature picturesque waterfalls, panoramic views and fascinating Aboriginal rock art sites. Dramatic lookouts and a network of excellent walking tracks. The massive sandstone ramparts of the Grampians rear up from the western end of Victoria’s Great Dividing Range, reaching more than 1000 metres above the surrounding fertile plains. Known as Gariwerd by the local Aboriginal people, it has an indigenous history stretching back for thousands of years.
