Park on the road from Mount Airly to Genowlan Trig where there is suitable space. Walk up the road to the top of the plateau and then take the road to Genowlan Trig. Leave this road at about GR 253 320 and head east to the top, southern end of the Valley of the Dinosaurs. We will then proceed down the valley stopping to explore as many slots as possible on both sides. Next, visit the Ultimate Slot and then return to the road and to the vehicles. This section is a variation of the Great West Walk(GWW). The Great West Walk is from Parramatta to Penrith. As the series Crossing the Blue Mountains is from Mount York to Emu Plains, we redesign the GWW to from Parramatta to Emu Plains.
Part one will start from Ropes Crossing to Emu Plains. Soon after we get off the bus, we will arrive at the historic Ropes Creek Station. Then we proceed to Wianamatta Regional Park which has a variety of trees, vegetation, swamps and birds. We walk through some newer suburbs of the area, lakes and walk to Emu Plains station via The Great River Walk. It's quite scenic with an abundance of water birds including black swans. Chris Cobern from the Upper Goulburn Landcare Network in Victoria was heavily involved in the recovery efforts following the Black Saturday bushfires in 2009. He worked with local communities, government, and volunteers for many years to help the landscape heal and recover. In this webinar Chris will chat about how he navigated issues around sourcing funding and volunteers, providing training, supporting local landholders, and what he’s learnt that can help groups and organisations working in similar circumstances today. Chris will also be joined by Landcare Australia’s Rowan Ewing, who will give an update on our bushfire recovery fund activities to date, and what’s planned for the coming months. View |
