There are several view points which look towards Mt Carrialoo, Crankeys Creek and Lake Yarrunga until reaching the end of the track overlooking Wombat Hill. On the return there is an optional trail leading to Rebeccas View over Sandys Creek on the other side of the ridge. Rough track, unfenced cliffs.

It's four hours drive from Sydney to this short portion of Cudgegong River in an astonishing photogenic bushland setting. Paddles can be figured out as we wish on the days, interspersed with bushwalking & socialising. Turn up any time from late Friday onwards. No shops nearby - bring enough food, water, nibbles, etc. It can get chilly so pack your thermal long johns, and everyone must bring a bag of kindling or firewood for the fire pits. It's a National Park; fees per night $6 adult & $3.50 child; bring the right change. http://www.nationalparks.nsw.gov.au/camping-and-accommodation/campgrounds/dunns-swamp-ganguddy-campground PFDs compulsory.

Starting at Newnes and following Little Capertee Creek, then onto Point Nicholson and past the justifiably famous Red Rocks, before continuing along Canobla Creek down to Canobla Gap. Day 2 will see us exploring either Mt Canobla or Point Anderson before returning on day 3 via a different route back to Newnes. The grassy comfortable campsite has water nearby and is in a superb location surrounded by the magnificent GOS National Park. Rock scrambling and off-track walking.

My last trip like this was super! So now a fantastic full-pack walk arranged just for the NPA by Willis’s Walkabout in the wonderful Kakadu NP. Majestic in places with interesting diversity in the landscape and interesting rock art. Lots of swimming and great camping spots. A long walk with a pack, made easier by the benign climate and our ability to share gear. Contact me for costs and further information.

Join us for one or more of the special events associated with the NPA NSW State Council meeting being hosted in the Illawarra at Mt Keira Scout Camp.

Saturday afternoon 30th – NPA members are invited to attend a 1 hour presentation on the Upland Swamps of the Sydney Region by renowned local expert, author and NPA member Ann Young. A great chance to learn about what we all see at Maddens Plains each time we drive to or from Sydney.

Sunday morning 1st – choice of walks with complimentary morning tea.
  1. Guided tree tour - Enjoy an easy guided walk to learn about the rainforest trees of the Illawarra Escarpment with local expert, author & NPA member, Leon Fuller followed by morning tea. 1km, Grade 1
  2. Mt Keira ascent - Mt Keira Scout Camp to Mt Keira summit and return via Dave Walsh and Mt Keira Ring Tracks. Moring tea along the way. 4km, Grade 3.
  3. Mt Keira Summit Park nature walk - Join for morning tea then take a stroll around the nature trail at the Summit Park. 1km, Grade 1.

This hike commences and finishes in Bled and is medium difficulty involving a 11 km, 620 mtr ascent; 10.5km, 1100mtr ascent; 11km, 700 mtr descent; 8.5km, 340mtr ascent and a 18ks, 1200m descent. There are two cycles. The first one is from Ljubljana in Slovenia to Porec in northern Croatia. Cycling for 9 days with daily distances from 35ksm to 57km. The second cycle is in the islands of Kvarner Bay in the northern Adriatic. It is a cruise and cycle covering 5 islands with cycling distances between 21km and 45km, difficulty grade 2 to grade 4. Steep, rough, slippery track, particularly if wet, track near waterfall at times, some high steps/rock scrambling. Old forest tracks overgrown and tree fall, some off track walking required.

We stay two nights near the lovely Oldfields Hut and a climb of Mt Bimberi (highest mountain in the ACT) is then an option for us. A full pack walk requiring tents, food, and good gear as the weather can be extreme (and often is). Six nights out with the last spent near cars at Blue Waterholes.

The SW Cape circuit is arguably Australias finest coastal walk with its superlative wild beaches rugged quartzite topped mountain ranges and wild forests and heathlands.
