Bonnum Pic is a spectacular peak which rises above the Wollondilly River, but on this trip we will approach it without a big climb by following the rocky Escarpment Route which is a wonderful skyline traverse and hopefully the flowers will be out in force. This is Part 3 of a 60 km, four-day walk, circling Sydney Harbour with the Sydney Harbour and Gladesville Bridges as its eastern and western points. This is a magnificent walk focusing on the harbour itself – the expanse of water, the bridges, islands, urban bushland and city skyline. The route winds along parts of the foreshore, into bays and on to headlands, through bush, along historic streets and over grand bridges.

Prof Lesley Hughes will provide an update on how the world's and Australia's climate is changing, and the impacts it is having and will continue to have, with an emphasis on species and ecosystems. Prof Hughes is Pro Vice-Chancellor (Research Integrity and Development) and Distinguished Professor of Biology at Macquarie University. She is a former federal climate commissioner and was lead author in the IPCC’s fourth and fifth assessment reports. She is also a director for WWF Australia, a member of the Wentworth Group of Concerned Scientists, the director of the Biodiversity Node for the NSW Adaptation Hub and a member of the expert advisory committee for Future Earth Australia. Find a way down into the creek to the north, explore a possible volcanic ‘neck’ on the way, then descend into Blackwater Creek. Take water, climb a ridge to the west and walk back to the camp. About 10km. Day 3. Find a way down into the creek to the south and follow it to Blackwater Creek, exploring a number slots along the way. From NPWS Pretty Beach car park, ascend Durras Mountain on forest tracks. Descend to coast via the east trail and return via coast. Some rock–hopping. One of the best walks in the region! Save Kosci walk: day 2. Initially 45 minutes of pleasant walking in reserves beside the Cooks River and Cup & Saucer Creek, then a mixture of quiet surburban streets. Finishing on footpaths beside busy Canterbury, Milperra and Newbridge Roads. Walk ends at Foodlovers supermarket and cafe, Moorebank. Possible to exit at various points to train stations, or at the end of the day with a lift in one of the support cars to Liverpool Train Station, to return to your accommodation.
