This is Part 1 of a 60 km, four-day walk, circling Sydney Harbour with the Sydney Harbour and Gladesville Bridges as its eastern and western points. This walk is co-led by Geoffrey Lee, Sheila Walker and Esther Chow.
This is a magnificent walk focusing on the Harbour itself – the expanse of water, the bridges, islands, urban bushland and city skyline. The route winds along parts of the foreshore, into bays and on to headlands, through bush, along historic streets and over grand bridges.
Part 1 starts from Circular Quay and finishes at Greenwich Wharf.

A great walk at a comfortable pace with a mixture of historic remnants of the Old Great North Rd, and some beautiful views over the Hawkesbury River and other valleys. Most of this walk follows parts of the convict built road, and a number of information signs along the way give a good insight into the construction and history of the road, making the walk more interesting. The long, gentle climb along Shepherds Gully has some beautiful scenery and some historic remnants of the Old Great North Road.
