This provides a lovely lunch place among the rocks with wonderful views into Upper Kangaroo Valley. After visiting the base of the falls I plan to walk downstream to where Stevos Track junction and along the way swim and rock hop our way down the river. Car ferry - cars only. Walk across the lagoon to the shorebird sanctuary where many of the birds will now be flocking to prepare for migration to Siberia and Alaska. Some will be in their spectacular breeding colours. Bring binoculars. Then walk south along the beach, sandbar and mangroves to the old coal wharf. Return through the coastal rainforest where there should be plenty of fungi flowering.
