(SWAG) Bob Rankin |
(Fully Booked - Ask leader about waiting list) We will walk through Five Dock, for most of the walk, and also Rodd Point, finishing in Haberfield. We will see some of Sydney’s Italian heritage, some great parks, and some interesting monuments. The walk will include the Christmas lunch for SWAG walkers, which we will have in Timbrell Park, adjacent to Livvi’s Cafe. You can bring your own lunch, or buy a panino or burger from the cafe - and a coffee, of course. Livvi’s is operated by a charity employing disabled people, deserving of our patronage. There is an opportunity early in the walk to purchase a treat for morning tea at Pasticceria Tamborrino, and an opportunity at the end of the walk to have a coffee or traditional gelato (pistachio is highly recommended) at Papa’s or San Silvestro in Haberfield. When registering, please indicate if you wish to contribute $10 towards a slice of Italian cake and prosecco at the lunch break - if enough say yes, leader will arrange for those agreeing to participate (minimum of 10 required). Deep Pass Canyon and Split Rock |

Length |

Sydney Branch |

(Fully Booked - Ask leader about waiting list) Deep Pass Canyon is quite possibly the easiest wet canyon you can do and you can normally manage to stay dry for most of of this trip if you are agile. Even then you'll only normally get wet up to your waist.
There are no abseils but there are quite a few places where you need to haul yourself up short length ropes. Along the way you'll encounter many small and stunning waterfalls and cascades where a swim is certainly worthwhile experiencing! Before the canyon we will do a short sidetrip to the impressive Split Rock which has some interesting tunnels within its imposing structure. Rock scrambling and slippery bits. Location: Wollemi NP Map: Rock Hill 89312N Limit: 8.

  (Fully Booked) Leader: Philip Wright
Philip went to fireworks on NYE 2022. He said that he hasn't done that since his youth. He said that others might be interested in doing that in 2023. So he is happy to take a group to a not crowded secret spot to see the 9 pm fireworks. If you wish to have dinner before, meet at Canton Cafe at Dixon Street at 6 pm. If you prefer to just go direct to fireworks, meet outside the cafe at 7:30 pm. Please indicate your option on RSVP. Bring a drink (not glass) and snacks while we wait for the fireworks. After the fireworks, walk to Central to catch train or bus to go home, unless you wish to stay for the midnight fireworks to see the year away.. Limit: 12.
