Combining management tracks, walking trails & open cross country we will walk through an interesting blend of Sydney Basin & Tableland flora & also walk along a rarely visited section of the Wingecarribee River. If there are sufficient resources available, there may be an optional detour for some of the walkers that will involve an additional climb followed by a short but steep descent. This is definitely one of my favourite walks in the Mugii Murum-Ban SCA as it shows off some of the most spectacular country in this fabulous location including an eagles eye view into the Valley of the Dinosaurs along with more pagodas than you can point a boot at!We will visit the Ultimate slot on the way back as it is only a short sidetrip! Once we leave the firetrail it is all offtrack walking along Treasure chest ridge but it is not terribly difficult. I've put the walk length at 6 kms but that is only if we are able to drive most of the way up the access road. On this circuit we will visit the various lookouts including Cooks Nose which has spectacular views over Foxground valley. Expect lots of flower stops and for those birdwatchers amongst us we may even spot the elusive ground parrot or eastern bristle bird. (NEW!!!) A walk for those who love rock scrambling,pagodas in abundance, interesting slots, ramps, passageways and even squeezy bits! Needless to say this walk has all of the above including the Ultimate View and a place which will leave you breathing hard, the birthing canal pass! Actually for this trip I'll have a tape so if you don't want to experience the aforementioned pass you don't have to and you can climb down beside it. In any case you must be prepared for plenty of offtrack walking and some scrubbashing. Although this walk goes past the Citadel it's an optional climb for those who don't want to attempt it.
