We launch in the crystal clear waters opposite the river mouth, then head upstream to explore deep into two mangrove forests. "The fleet" can then decide to paddle to the river’s navigable limit or, on the return paddle, land and explore Mystics Beach - part of the National Surfing Reserve in Killalea State Park. Requirements: Participants to provide their own craft & are required to wear a correctly fitted PFD. Distance will be a minimum 7km but an optional extension making it 14km. Tidal. Deep water. Park on T3 Trail at GR 812 013 and proceed west for a few hundred metres to GR 811 012. Descend into the gully to the north and walk all the way to Tootie Cascades. Swimming opportunities. From here, return via the gully rising towards the south east towards T3 Track. Re-connect with the vehicles. Exploratory. About 6 km. Scrambling and exposure. Days 2,3: walk to Broken Dam Hut, camp and do day walks from there.
Day 4: return to cars, drive short distance to Selwyn carpark and walk into 4 Mile Hut site (now ruins) and explore the area.
Day 5: return to cars, drive home.

We will meet near the entrance to the Castle Hill Metro Station. From here we will navigate our way to the Castle Hill Heritage Park. Time will be spent here walking around and exploring the various attractions which the park offers. The Castle Hill Creek(CHC) flows through this reserve and joins the Catti Creek further downstream. As we proceed to the Fred Caterson Reserve we will pass a couple of smaller parks along the CHC. The fire trail, pave walkways and bush tracks will lead us through this reserve to the Showground Metro Station, The bush tracks could be rough, slipery and stoney. Limit: 15. View |

Starting at Catherine Hill Surf Life Saving Club, walk along the beach passing the old pier, climb and walk along a beautiful cliff overlooking the ocean, a pink boulder cave, on to Moonee Beach, Ghosties Beach to the edge of the cliff to a beach cave and then walk back along Ghosties Beach and up to Moonee Beach Track passing beautiful cliff faces, Wybung Trig Lookout and exit to Campbell Drive. Suitable for children aged 5 to 9. Must be accompanied by a parent/grand-parent/guardian. Distance: about 2km, on the island off-track exploring. Grade: Easy. Wear joggers and a hat that doesn’t blow away. We walk from Lake Tabourie over the tombola to Crampton Island. Feel like a pirate or Robinson Crusoe as we take time to explore rock formations and rock pools and head inland to see whether we can spot some signs of wildlife. Morning tea on the island. We keep an eye on the tide and return to the cars around 11 am. Take morning tea and water. Limit: Preference given to children with guardians. All other participants will be put on a waitlist. A walk on multiple un-named tracks in the Conservation area with lots of variety, Visit the Big Dam, the historic Cawley Road and tunnel. Carrying old boots or gum boots for the entry and exit to the tunnel will make this section of the walk more enjoyable. Torch required. The local flora is certain to be a delight. The second loop will incorporate more variety on pristine sections with a route through the old Helensburgh Tip with city views and a good view of the Garawarra area. We will do the popular Drummoyne Bay walk loop first & finish at the now closed-down notorious Callan Park Psychiatric Hospital. We will then walk along the Glebe foreshore to the earliest Chinese historic Sze Yup Taoist Temple. Then we will visit the soon-to-be rebuilt Sydney fish market. On the way to visit the White Rabbit Chinese contemporary art gallery we will pass the famous Central Park complex where plants were first used extensively on the front of high-rise buildings.
