A steep climb to start, up Mt Durras, then walk across to Pebbly Beach (partly on the road) and stop for lunch. On the way back explore the new track along the coast back to Pretty. Some uphill and down, along rock platforms, up and down constructed steps, short section on the Pebbly Road. The walk is long but pace will be steady with plenty of time to swim on the way back. (Fully Booked) We are repeating the Heritage Festival 2022 walking tour of Cooks River by Terry Lennis, a proud D'harawal man, local elder and Aboriginal horticulturalist. The recent history of this area is well documented, but this is an opportunity to hear the Indigenous perspective on the history and current uses of the rivers and waterways. Terry Lennis is one of the knowledge holders for the Midjuburi Ward and he will take you on a bush tucker foraging journey along one of the Inner West's special waterways. A scenic and relaxed pace ride on cycle paths and cycle routes around the foreshore. Passing through historical properties, then cross over on the punt. Return to the start over John Whitton Bridge. There are train stations along the way if you prefer a shorter ride or getting tired. Unfortunately, riding an e-bike on this trip will mean that you are not covered under NPA club insurance; Bushwalking Australia is working to see if it can be covered for future trips. Mostly on cycle paths, but some road crossings with vehicle traffic. Be aware of other track users, debris /damage/uneven path, and possible mechanical failures. Limit: 10. View |

This canyon is relatively dry (no swims) and reminds me of Wolgan view canyon in parts. It has some truly spectacular sections including the aptly named Acoustic Chamber which is an enormous overhang of sorts with wonderful aural properties! Expect off-track walking with lots of rock scrambling and an adventurous time as we explore and enjoy this special place. Rock scrambling and off-track walking. The walk starts on D’Arcy Trail at GR 744 018. Walk north on the ridge to about GR 748 032 and descend under cliffs, then traverse to GR 746 037. Follow the gully down to Blacksmiths Creek. Continue downstream to GR 757 038 or GR 761 036, if time allows. Climb back on the ridge and walk back to the start. Partly exploratory. About 10 km. Scrambling and exposure. Join me on one or more walks of this challenge of the 3Ps through winter, enjoying Blue Gum Forest from Lockley Pylon, Pierces Pass, and Perrys Lookdown.
With some of the best views across the Grose valley, the first of our 3P challenge is an invigorating and rewarding walk. We will follow the Lockley Pylon walking track, through low lying heath to Lockley Pylon with magnificent views. Continuing to Du Faurs to descend into the valley on the steep and rocky terrain of Shortridge pass. We'll cross Govetts Creek into Blue Gum Forest for lunch before we commence the ascent and scramble back up Du Faurs on our return trip. Banksias are blooming and the wattle is about to pop. Lots to enjoy on this iconic walk. Joint walk with the Bushclub. Steep and rocky terrain, mild exposure, short scramble up the cliff line, relatively easy creek crossing. If you think of Manly only as a beach, come along and change your mind. This walk climbs the hills around Manly. Starting at Manly Wharf, it heads up and over to Little Manly Beach then crosses the ridge to Fairy Bower Beach via St Patricks College. After a long flat stretch along Manly and Steyne beaches it climbs from the Queenscliff rock pool towards Freshwater before descending to Manly Creek.
