With some of the best views across the Grose valley, the first of our 3P challenge is an invigorating and rewarding walk. We will follow the Lockley Pylon walking track, through low lying heath to Lockley Pylon with magnificent views. Continuing to Du Faurs to descend into the valley on the steep and rocky terrain of Shortridge pass. We'll cross Govetts Creek into Blue Gum Forest for lunch before we commence the ascent and scramble back up Du Faurs on our return trip. Banksias are blooming and the wattle is about to pop. Lots to enjoy on this iconic walk. Joint walk with the Bushclub. Steep and rocky terrain, mild exposure, short scramble up the cliff line, relatively easy creek crossing.

Usual - possibility of slightly overgrown tracks.

This walk climbs the hills around Manly. Starting at Manly Wharf, it heads up and over to Little Manly Beach then crosses the ridge to Fairy Bower Beach via St Patricks College. After a long flat stretch along Manly and Steyne beaches it climbs from the Queenscliff rock pool towards Freshwater before descending to Manly Creek. It finishes with a climb to the Kangaroo Statue and returns via Ivanhoe Park and Tower Hill Park to Manly Cove. Steps, hills.

I plan to explore this area and the aim of this walk is not to do a long distance but to photograph and enjoy the locations unique rock formations which will keep the group entertained for quite awhile I'm thinking. Rock scrambling and off-track walking.

Walk upstream, visit Blacksmiths Amphitheatre and take Long Gully back to the range. Partly exploratory. About 11 km. Scrambling and exposure.

Hoping it is now open. Walk North Lawson park, turtle steps down to Empire Pass. Explore Lucy's Glen and back to main track. Frederica falls, up fire trail to Queens Road. Track down to Golden Horizons park. Oaklands Road, waterfall track through to and then up Winbourne Road to Hazelbrook Station. Steep, rough, could be slippery whether wet or dry leaves.
