Parts of this stunning coastal wilderness - rich in culture and nature has been declared a UNESCO World Biosphere Reserve. There are six national parks in the immediate area and twelve in the region. There are beautiful views to the Waters of Berowra Creek(a tributary of Hawkesbury River) and neighbouring Ku Ring Gai Chase National Park, lots of shade, places to stop for a morning tea and lunch with a view and enough elevation change to get a good workout! There is some track work towards Otford, but our advice is that we can complete walk heading to Otford, but walking is not allowed from Otford to Garawarra. We will do lunch at Audley Cafe if sufficient interest. A photographic journal of listening/learning at camps and along ancestral pathways in Gundungurra Country (Southern Blue Mountains). Our speaker, Yvonne Kaiser-Glass, is an archaeologist who has been privileged to be invited over the past 7 years, to participate in a 7-day off-track walk through Gundungurra Country in the southern Blue Mtns. Its premise is you have to walk Country to understand Country and from that respect follows. This talk promises to bring a unique insight into areas of the Greater Blue Mountains World Heritage Area that most of us will never see. It's a steady climb up Devines Hill, the old convict-built road that contains so many remnants of the 1820s, plus lots of information signs. Once at the top of the hill we'll take the Shepherds Gully Loop and then return to the Old Great North Road. Then we'll take the Finchs Line track back down to Wisemans Ferry Road. Park on the road from Mount Airly to Genowlan Trig where there is suitable space. Walk up the road to the top of the plateau and then take the road to Genowlan Trig. Leave this road at about GR 253 320 and head east to the top, southern end of the Valley of the Dinosaurs. We will then proceed down the valley stopping to explore as many slots as possible on both sides. Next, visit the Ultimate Slot and then return to the road and to the vehicles. Today we walk from North Ryde to Thornleigh. It's a beautiful bushwalk along the Lane Cove River, somewhat rocky but generally good track, ending with a steep climb to Thornleigh Station at the end. There are 5 mild creek crossings. Beautiful sandstone caves, magestic gum trees and grass trees are there to welcome you.
