We’ll explore the rock quarry before crossing Bombo beach then continue through to Kiama to explore the lighthouse, before our journey ends at Kiama station. Continues to Solander Track. Pretty along the creek, with a waterfall (Phantom Falls). Some quite wet tiny tracks. Lots of ups and downs. Those who use hiking sticks, bring them. The last time I walked this area at this time of year, the flowers were in profusion, and the views are, of course, spectacular at any time of the year. Plus, Butterbox Point has some amazing sandstone sculptures that are quite stunning, as are Venus Tor and the Crags. Rock scrambling. (Fully Booked) Co-leader is Bandula. Kamakah Gully is a dry narrow canyon, almost dark in short sections as it winds through the sandstone.
We will walk from Bells Line of Road along the ridge beside Kamakah Gully and then enter the gully from a shoulder following the foot pad down. Once in the gully the walk follows the stream up into the canyon as it narrows and twists its way through the sandstone to the point where the canyon starts. Next the ridge east of the canyon will be followed to the cliff edges for views over the upper Grose River valley. Return along ridge to foot track from Jungaburra Brook and then to Bells line of road. An additional walk to Dargan Arch, dependent on time available. Off track and canyon floor walking.
