Beautiful autumn colour and unique views from the lookouts at Inspiration Point looking back to Wentworth Falls and out towards Mittagong. Booking essential giving your mobile, emergency contact and NPA membership numbers, if I don't already have them. People who book on the weekend are welcome, but you may not receive an acknowledgement. There is some street walking, many steps in places and creek crossings. Tracks can be muddy and slippery.

We will climb down into a hidden world of mossy logs, giant tree ferns, (‘Dicksonia Antartica’) and small streams. Many of the old tree ferns have fallen over, but are boldly regrowing in unusual directions, giving the appearance of giant caterpillars. We will travel through two steep-sided creek valleys that are northern tributaries of Dingo Creek. Time permitting, we will also climb up onto the pagodas separating the ravines for views across the Dingo Ck system. Mostly off-track, some thick bush, and some exposed spots. Off-track. Some rock scrambling.

Walks will be in the RNP near the headwaters of the Hacking River which drains off the Illawarra escarpment. The infamous Peabody Metropolitan Colliery is located further up Camp Gully Creek. The mine has illegally discharged coal waste material into these waterways on numerous occasions in recent years. If you’re curious about the ongoing impacts on the ecosystem downstream, this is a good opportunity to see the evidence for yourself. Registration essential. Creek crossings, wet feet

Along the way you will see post-war cobbled tracks and stonework, views of mangrove forests, salt marsh and sweeping water vistas and vegetation communities ranging from moist gullies to Sydney sandstone gully bushland." Moderately steep sections, steps and it can be rough in places, though it has had an upgrade recently.

Descend into Flat Rock Creek at around GR 781 931. Walk counterclockwise under cliffs all the way to Flat Rock Creek South Falls. Climb above the falls and exit back to the vehicles. Mainly exploratory. About 12 km. Scrambling and exposure.

From there we will walk through Lilyfield to the Rozelle Parklands. We can explore this newly opened 10-hectare site before walking to Jubilee Park, Glebe for lunch. After lunch, we will make our way back through the Rozelle Parklands to the newly restored White Bay Power Station, which is hosting this year’s Biennale. The walk will finish here, where people can visit the exhibition (free entry) and then return to the city either by the free shuttle bus or buses on Victoria Rd. Bookings only from the week before the date of the walk please.

As A L Rowse once said, a good historian needs a pair of good walking boots. We will walk in the shoes of those who were quarantined there over the course of its history.

Come along and join us to discover all that this area has to offer. Accommodation will be at the Royal Hotel in Capertee, leader will organise a room for you, or you are welcome to use a camper trailer / rooftop tent / caravan etc. These can be parked at the back of the hotel for free, they just expect you to eat / drink at the pub. On Saturday we will do a walk called Airly Frustum and Airly Turret Slot. On Sunday we will do a private tour of the Glen Davis Oil Shale Refinery in the morning and then head back up to the Mount Airly area for a walk to the Ladders Defile along with any other exploring that we fancy while up there. Monday a leisurely morning before heading home. Scrambling and exposure.

No need to RSVP.  Camellia Gardens.  Located in Caringbah and overlooking beautiful Yowie Bay, the Gardens were recognised by the International Camellia Society as a Camellia Gardens of Excellence in 2014.  There are sixty Camellia Gardens of Excellence in the world, with the Camellia Gardens and Lisgar Gardens in Hornsby being the only two in NSW.
The Gardens have over 400 cultivars and species donated and acquired since its first plantings began in 1969, in addition to many other rare ornamental and native plants. The collection is of unique value to Australian horticulture. The Gardens have something for all seasons. The camellias are in season during autumn and winter. Tea house serves delicious devonshire and lunches.   We will play by ear.  A walk at Woronora Cemetery can be added on.

Walk | A bushwalk of any kind short or long(Updated Details) I've wanted to climb the Citadel for a long time and to explore the area to the north, around the Ultimate View and the nearby clifflines/slots and terraces. So I look forward to being able to do this with like-minded, adventurous people in an area not often visited due to its rugged nature. The walk is generally a grade 5, but for those who want to climb the Citadel, it will be a grade 6. Rock scrambling and off-track walking.
