We start from Pennant Hills Station, walk along Model Aircraft Trail, Pennant Hills Trail, Lane Cove Valley Walk to the Cannon Road Recreation Area, where we will visit the Dog Paw Cave(Rocks). After lunch, we will retrace our steps to do the STEP track. The STEP Track was established by STEP a community based environmental organisation based in South Turramurra. It is one of the most enjoyable walks in the Lane Cove valley. We go out to the scenic lookout and spend some time around the waterfall. Then we walk along Devlins Creek to visit the Whale Rock and head to Cheltenham station. Bush-bash, slippery and steep tracks. View |

Moderate pace. Mostly on well formed paths overlooking Long Reef Aquatic Reserve and Golf Course and Collaroy Basin and Beach. Some ups and downs. Sand walking at low tide, hopefully no wet feet. Rock platform. Commencing the walk from Dee Why Lagoon, there are sandy tracks which could be wet and muddy following rain and detours may be necessary. Some main road walking. The Illawarra Grevillea Park is arguably the best of its kind in Australia. Just walking through the gates invites a feeling of getting back to nature. Set against the backdrop of the stunning Illawarra escarpment, and with views of the ocean, this is a plant lover's paradise. At every turn, there is something unique to see. It has the quality of botanic gardens, displaying the rare and the beautiful. Large colourful display gardens with hundreds of grevilleas and other native species and hybrids, rain forest walk, acres to explore including a bushwalking track, barbecue and picnic facilities, a large range of native plants for sale, extensive range of books for sale, advice on growing native plants and birdwatching. The Illawarra Grevillea Park - Just an hour and a half by car from just about anywhere in Sydney. The park aims to encourage the appreciation and study of native plants. High above the Newnes Campground is Old Baldy, a massive set of cliffs named by rock climbers and
within its rocky face is the Skywalker Traverse, a long a series of ledges and overhangs. This is a great
walk and not that difficult, although it does entail some scrambling, mainly off-track walking, but
certainly worth it.
