This walk takes in some of the most stunning sections of Kangaroo creek downstream of Karloo pools where there is a ton of inviting swimming pools to keep you cool when the Summer sun is beating down. I plan to stop and have a swim in many of these along the way down this pristine watercourse. The walk out of Kangaroo creek is via a shady forested ridge track back to Heathcote station. The Bargo River flows into Mermaid Pools and then on through the Tahmoor Gorge. This walk beside the river passes next to the pools and then descend to the gorge and river. Impressive views of the Mermaid Pools and water falls and cascades in the gorge. The track joins the valley floor and crosses the river twice then returns to the cliff edge via Rosies Pass. Return back to cars via views of Mermaid Pools and the Bargo River. A short walk with time for a swim in the river canyon. Hazards include slippery rocks, steep descents, river crossings. The walk will use a series of bush tracks from the eastern end of Excelsior Avenue along sections of Darling Mills Creek and its feeder Creeks. Well shaded. Coffee to finish: probably the best option is to hop on a bus on Old Northern Road and go to Castle Towers or The Grove at Baulkham Hills. View

With your dinner and your choice of drinks in your backpack we walk out to Mt Bushwalker for a picnic dinner. We’ll watch the shadows lengthen and admire the sunset over the Budawangs. We walk back starting with twilight, but it will be dark by the time we get to the cars. Note: Take a torch with you. If there is no sun, the walk will be cancelled. Visit the surprisingly beautiful waterfalls on Parma and Sandy creeks. Vehicles with reasonable ground clearance needed for access to the trackheads. Walks are short but rough and if you want to explore to the waters edge need to be agile. Plan is to swim if conditions are good. Also going to drive a short distance up the highway to visit the rock pool off Parma Creek Road.  This activity is dependent on condition of the firetrail access at the time. (Updated Details) Well, it's that time of year again when all keen walkers head down to the Kosciuszko National Park to explore, engage with nature and experience the beauty of the region and the superb walks that the high country has to offer. i still have a few places left so if interested please let me know asap. The Alpine flowers should be at their peak at this time of year, and the fresh air is most invigorating! Also, there is a new major track to check out and much, much more. As in previous years, we will stay at Charlottes Pass in a very comfortable abode, The Southern Alps ski lodge, and from this centrally located residence, we will venture out on day walks. This lodge is totally DIY and rooms are twin-share with larger rooms accommodating up to 4 people.i can accommodate a couple of single people but theres a single supplement.Regarding sharing I'll arrange rooms with a woman sharing with another woman and visa versa! Walking from Fortress Ridge track car parking area on Mt Hay Road. Taking in views at Fortress Ridge Rock lookout, then down the track to Dr Dark’s cave for morning tea. Going past the cave to the cliff side lookout before returning back to the cave. Turn off the track to the cave for a short off track section to Fortress Ridge track.  Continue on this track and taking the side track down to Fortress creek. Return back to Fortress Ridge track. Lunch spot somewhere with views from the Fortress Ridge track. Return to cars at Mt Hay road along track. Hazards include slippery rocks and loose rocks. Off track section is 400 m with 100 m elevation gain and is where loose rocks will be encountered. Grade 4 due to this section of walk, otherwise would be grade 3. If you wish to have dinner before, meet at Canton Cafe at Dixon Street at 6 pm. If you prefer to just go direct to fireworks, meet outside the cafe at 7:30 pm. Bring a drink (not glass) and snacks while we wait for the fireworks. After the fireworks, walk to the light rail or Central to catch train or bus to go home, unless you wish to stay for the midnight Limit: 10. View

(Fully Booked - Ask leader about waiting list) When the heat of summer is upon us, where do you head? To a Blue Mountains canyon to cool off and revive body and soul! On this trip we will experience not 1 but 3 canyons with Du Faur Canyon being the main course. The equally spectacular, but much shorter October Creek being the entree, and the Joes Canyon the dessert for what promises to be a superb day swimming, paddling and savouring these amazingly beautiful locations. I can promise you an amazing aquatic time! You'll need a helmet, wetsuit and I recommend a flotation device such as a surfmat, and life jacket as there are some longish swims involved. Starting on Nattai Road W11E and turning off on Starlights Trail and follow to Ermetts Flat. Morning tea at camping areas. Follow Nattai River upstream to Slott Way track. Follow Slott Way track to Needle Lookout. Possible lunch stop. Continue to junction with Ahearn Lookout Track. Time available will decide on including lookout. From track junction continue to Junction with Starlights Trail and then to car parked on Nattai Road. Hazards include river crossings, slippery rocks and hard to follow tracks.
