From the end of Jack's Corner Road follow Griffins Fire Trail a short distance to a track to the left.  Follow this through the forest to a steep descent to the main dirt road leading to Beehive Point on Lake Yarrunga. This is a lovely picnic area and chance for a swim. After lunch we will explore a part of the Timelong track with its sandstone embankments and see where the track disappears under Lake Yarrunga. Return by the main dirt road. A car will be positioned at Beehive Point to provide transport back to Jacks Corner for anyone seeking to avoid the 6km uphill walk out.   Rough track and some steep sections both up and down.

A walk to explore Sydney’s newest walking, cycling, art and nature corridor. The Greenway is a 6 km path linking the Cooks River at Earlwood with the Parramatta River at Iron Cove and the Bay Run.
There are eight new public artworks, bushcare sites and a range of parks, playgrounds and sporting facilities.
Meet at Hurlstone Park station at 9.30 am. The metro to Hurlstone Park has not yet been completed. Catch an all stations replacement bus from Sydenham station. These buses leave every few minutes.

On the last two occasions I did this walk it rained so we couldn't complete the entire walk through the most spectacular part of the gorge. Lets hope this time we have good weather! rock hopping

I booked the following coach: 6:45 leaving central 10:15 arriving Canberra 6:30 pm leaving Canberra 21:40 arriving central cost: $18 When we arrive Canberra, we’ll catch a bus to the War Memorial, the starting point of the walk. Walk takes about 3 hours. Then it’s free time. Catch the 6:30 coach back to maximise the time in Canberra. The walk is  Mount Ainsley Lookout To RSVP, please book your own coach fare. The Pilliga Tag-along tour is a not-for-profit tour. It is an activist tour aiming to educate and highlight the dire impacts of coal seam gas. It is tour that contrasts the beauty of the Pilliga with the visible impacts of mining.
Day 1 could include Barradine Forest Discovery Centre, Sculptures in the Scrub, fire tower, Salt Caves. Day 2 could include a tour of the coal seam gas fields and associated infrastructure and impacts. Car sharing is encouraged, as fuel is the largest cost. Self-catering is an option; costs are kept to a minimum. Accommodation is at Pilliga Pottery Creative Farmstay. Camping is an option. More information and registration form.

Once down at the Colo, walk downstream and enter Tambo Creek. Walk upstream till about GR 682 150. Ascend northwards, enter Pinchgut Creek and follow it downstream to the Colo. There will be a number of side trips. Detailed plans for each day to be advised. No water needs to be carried. About 30 km. Exploratory. Scrambling and exposure.

Rogaine | A map and compass based navigation activity.The Explorergaine is a 6-hour rogaine being held on Sunday 29 March at Mt Victoria on the western edge of the Blue Mountains, mostly on bush tracks. The event has a strong historical theme and is also a fundraiser for the Australian Himalayan Foundation. The course explores the first routes off the mountains dating back to 1813. There are outstanding views over the Megalong Valley, Hartley and across to the Great Divide. Expect a surprisingly complex choice of bush tracks both close to the Hash House and for the fit and strong down to Hartley Vale. This event has something for everyone. Whether you’re a seasoned rogainer or a newcomer looking to explore a new area this is an event not to be missed. Teams of 2 to 5 members.
