This section is from the Wondabyne Station to the Old Moony Mooney Bridge. There will be a car shuttle between Hawkesbury River Station and the Old Mooney Mooney Bridge (45 mins return), and participants must come in a car with no more than the driver and 1 passenger. The walk will start at Wondabyne Station after a train ride from Hawkesbury River Station.

Part of the Great South Coast Walk (http://greatsouthcoastwalk.net/) a long-distance walking route along the southern coastline of New South Wales, from Bundeena on the southern fringe of Sydney, to Mallacoota, just over the border in Victoria, 660 km in total. As part of Parramatta to Shoalhaven Heads, we will walk from Austinmer to Corrimal stations. From Austinmer we climb to the escarpment foothills and walk the Gibson track to Thirroul. Descending through streets and parks we stop at the DH Lawrence Reserve next to the house where the author wrote Kangaroo. From there we follow the coastal cycleway through the Sandon Pt Aboriginal Place, beaches and headlands to Bellambi Dunes, a rare natural dune system on a much modified coastline. Finally we follow Towradgi Creek from its estuary to Corrimal station. Limit: 15. View |

After skirting behind some houses in St Ives Chase it joins the fire trail which heads steeply down to cross Ku-Ring-Gai Creek before it climbs out to Kitchener St, St Ives and finally to Mona Vale Rd. The Sydney to Wondabyne walks were completed in 2019. Section 1 from Wondabyne is on 2 May 2021. Sections 2 to 8 will be continuous day walks from Saturday, 08 May to Friday, 14 May 2021 staying overnight en-route; at farm stay for 2 to 4 nights, possibly staying at a cabin site for 2 nights, in a pub/hotel for 2 nights and at a caravan park for 1 night. To start the walk, all walkers will assemble at Misty Mountain Farm Stay site by nightfall on Friday, 07 May for an early start on Saturday, 08 May. Car shuffles will be required for all sections and participants will need to come in a car with no more than 1 other participant. Daily walks range from 11 km to 20 km and the walk rating are 3 and 4. Rough track, steep, rough, rocky and slippery sections, creek crossings, fallen trees and unfenced cliffs. Leave one car at Hanlons Road North and drive another one to GR 716 925 on Mountain Lagoon Road. From the second car, take Potos Ridge NW towards Tootie Creek. Visit Potos Cave 1 on the way down, followed by Potos Wall to the west of the descent ridge. Climb out of Potos Creek to visit Potos Cave 2. Next, cross the creek westwards and use East Ridge to descend into the Tootie Creek and Back Creek junction. Walk upstream on Back Creek, all the way to Hanlons Road North. About 6 km. Retrace the famous explorer Ludwig Leichhardt's remarkable 1843 journey to Mt Royal (50km north of Singleton) with Martin from nearby Callicoma Hill Eco-cabins, who has researched Leichhardt’s eventful but scarcely known visit. Leichhardt left a legacy of plant collection, natural history insight & detailed scientific observations that Martin will bring to life in this beautiful place which has remained largely unchanged in 170 years. Join a small group on a hard, steep 4 hour Sunday morning walk, or the afternoon easier 2-hour rainforest meander.

Lisgar Gardens is a wonderful, secret garden hidden in the back streets of Hornsby. Spread across 6 acres, the garden packs a lot in with a little bit of something for everyone. Lisgar Gardens are famous for their Camellias. There are around ninety varieties in the garden. Some steep and slippery sections, steep staircases and elevation changes. This walk follows the coastline south from Malabar Beach to the mouth of Botany Bay at La Perouse. It passes spectacular cliffs, headlands and beaches typical of Sydney’s ocean coast as well as golf courses and historical sites. We may be lucky to see the early whales on their migration north.
