23 Sep, Wed 7:20PM The Effect of subsidence from long wall coal mining on the ecology and water quality of streams and AGM
Southern Sydney Branch
Brian E.
Talk | A talk or slide show presentation. It has been a trying year and we have not been able to hold Branch meetings in person though we have at least been able to get together on bushwalks. I guess I should be pleased for small mercies.
We had hoped to hold a Branch meeting in person on September 23rd in our old venue but to maximise numbers we are deciding to attempt a Zoom meeting. Our guest speaker will be Catherine Cunningham.
Catherine Cunningham will give a well-illustrated address on The Effect of subsidence from long wall coal mining on the ecology and water quality of streams. Catherine will clearly illustrate how the careful use of scientific methodology can tease out answers to important questions regarding possible risks from this modern form of coal mining that has replaced the former border and pillar style mining which left much coal intact for safety purposes. The research was conducted under the auspices of Sydney Water and University of Canberra.
Tune in to Zoom at the following link by 7:20 pm on 23rd September for what should be a fascinating evening. If you have not yet used Zoom we will give you a few pointers to guide you before the presentation begins. https://us02web.zoom.us/j/86191730979
Incidentally, this is also our AGM and at this meeting we will be seeking the new office holders. We must select a President, a Treasurer, an Honorary Secretary and four State Councillors. Traditionally we also select a Vice President, a Newsletter editor, an Activities Coordinator and confirm our Executive team. If you have always dreamed of taking on a role please consider and do not be shy. View
