This walk to Goochs Crater from Bell is via Dargan Arch, a rock formation that looks like a natural bridge. The off-track sections involved are the ascending part, before joining with the well formed track. This is a more scenic route to Goochs Crater, a natural crater-like formation of non-volcanic type. Some rock climbing/scrambling of 45 degree involved. Some waratahs might still be in bloom. Upon arrival on this car-free oasis of bush, beach and tranquillity, we will be welcomed by tree-lined palms and jacarandas. On the lower grounds we'll walk past the Bowling Club and Bradleys Beach. On the higher grounds we'll get great views of the Hawkesbury River. We'll also walk past a Blackbutt – Rough-barked Apple Forest. Enjoy the scenic train ride across the Hawkesbury River and a joy ferry ride to the island. Enjoy lunch or Devonshire tea at Dangar Island Depot before taking the ferry back home. Starting at Warrimoo Station walk along Florabella Pass and Green Point Track to Green Point Lookout, back to Florabella Pass towards Blaxland, turn off to Mules Track and on to Douglas Smith Park finishing at Glenbrook Station. We'll meet at Cronulla Wharf to take the 8.30 am ferry to Bundeena. We'll walk to Bonnie Vale Campground, Cabbage Tree Basin. We'll do some exploring and see whether we can find some Aboriginal Rock Art around the area. We'll walk to Goosberry Bay, Costen Bay/Point and Yenabilly Point/Fishermens Bay to see the ruins around the area and some Aboriginal Arts, middens. Beautiful view overlooking Port Hacking River, South West Arm Creek estuary. A possible detour to Maianbar Trig. Walk back to Bundeena to catch the ferry back to Cronulla and train from Cronulla. Some slippery sections, wet sections, loose rocks, possible trip hazards walking around grassy and overgrown parts. Location: bundeena Limit: 10. View |
