Bar Point is an isolated riverside settlement on the Hawkesbury River in Popran National Park. The proposed route of the Great River Walk runs through this settlement. The route options have never been fully explored due to the remoteness of the area. So this walk is designed to fill in the gaps in our knowledge and explore the area, particularly a possible link between Bar Point and Big Jim Point. It will be an adventure. Minnamurra to Gerrigong. Jointly led by Geoffrey Lee and Ping Xie. A stunning 24 km pathway accompanying our sparkling coastline. The spectacular walk begins at Minnamurra and wanders past headlands, rivers, beaches, Kiama town centre up to Blowhole Point then on towards the Little Blowhole passing more beaches and bays before winding up at Werri Beach. The last 6 km between Loves Bay and Werri Beach is particularly blessed with its own rugged and untouched natural beauty. Keep an eye out for whales, sea eagles and hawks. https://kiama.com.au/kiama-coast-walk Slippery sections. Limit: 12. View |

Jointly led by Graham Burgess and Esther Chow. This walk is in conjunction with the 24 km walk led by Geoffrey and Ping. We start together but finish at Kiama while the energized group continues to Gerrigong.
We start from Minnamurra to Blow Hole Point and it takes about 3 hours. We'll pass Jones Beach, Cathedral Rocks, Bombo Beach and KiamaHarbour on our way to the famous blowhole.
Other attractions include the Boneyard and the Spring Creek Wetlands. Near the blowhole is the 1881-built Pilot’s Cottage Museum and the heritage-listed Kiama Lighthouse. The trail also takes us past the Kiama Golf Club, which charms with panoramic views, a restaurant and an 18-hole course. No need to contact leaders. Slippery sections. Location: Kiama Coast View |
18 Nov, Sun | Save Kosci: Jacqua Road to Tarago
Length | 26km | Branch | |||
General Community Event
Save Kosci walk: day 16. The second day of ‘big sky country’ to reach Tarago. Though the walking is mostly flat, even a little elevation gives pleasant views left and right, including views to the distant Budawangs and Mt Palerang. Pass the dry lake bed called ‘The Morass’, one of the Bathurst Lake group. For most of the day, on Lumley Road, traffic is limited to about 1 vehicle every 20 minutes. A long day at 25.6 km but the terrain makes it easy to get into a good pace. Overnight at The Loaded Dog, Tarago, an old country pub full of character.
