As if Sydney wasn’t already the prettiest city in Australia,  we find ourselves living in nothing short of a magical, lavender coloured, wonderland. Let's start with the Royal Botanical Garden, cross the Harbour bridge, and explore the streets of suburbs like lavender bay and Wollstonecraft. Jointly led by Kevin Cliffe and Esther. The first 4.7km along the Illawarra Highway – a busy road but with generally wide verges. Then south for 5.3km on the Exeter Road. Suggest lunch in a café or under a shady tree in the charming village of Exeter. Follow tree-fringed back roads in the afternoon past rural properties to the village of Bundanoon. Ascend to Garawarra Farm and follow Cliff Track visiting various lookouts to Lilyvale Track. Descend and follow rarely walked Karingal and Red Cedar Tracks to cross Hacking River again. Ascend and follow fire trails and tracks back to the station. Medium pace.

Then, saying a temporary farewell to the support cars, 3.5 km on NPWS walking track with dramatic views, down steeply to the Shoalhaven River to camp among the giant casuarinas and optionally have a swim. Walk | A bushwalk of any kind short or longPark at GR 420 250 and walk up Capertee Gorge all the way to the non-negotiable waterfall at GR 387 242, checking out an interesting short canyon and tunnel just before that point. Now, walk back a few hundred metres, climb out on the northern side and walk to Mount Dawson. From there, head east to a pass at GR 393 238 and come back down into the Capertee Creek Gorge. Keep under the cliff line this time, whilst making our way back. The first section is through private property; access has been arranged. Partly exploratory. Scrambling and exposure.

The first 8 km are off-road – along the Shoalhaven (no track), then up the Mt Ayres track, then across the tops on the ‘Green track’ to the NPWS campground. Lunch and possibly a siesta at the campground. Then an afternoon walk of 3.5km to take the edge off the next day, which otherwise would be a long day. Cycle Cooks River Canal, Lewisham, Haberfield, Lilyfield, Newtown return to Wolli Creek. Some traffic, but mostly cycle paths and quiet streets. Must be confident riding on the road. One big hill and some ups and downs. Bring water and sun cream. Can bring morning and afternoon tea, or plenty of places to purchase along the way. Lunch at Newtown. No helmet no-go. Finish between 3 – 4pm. View
