In my local area is the beautiful Shaws Creek, which I only have partially explored, so in this walk I plan to visit its upper reaches via a rocky and very scenic ridge, before following its length down to a track, which I know well. Along the way you can expect some stunning swimming pools and patches of rainforest along with gorgeous views along the ridge that leads down to the creek. Rock scrambling and off-track walking. Grade:5/6 | Length | 9km | 600m | Southern Sydney Branch | |

(Fully Booked - Ask leader about waiting list) Bungonia Gorge has vertical side in the section that we walk and is impressive in depth. With a drop of nearly 300 metres in a gorge which is 800 metres long and only 76 metres wide, is the deepest gorge in Australia. The track is well defined to and from the canyon and is a steep descent/ascent. The canyon itself has a boulder field that is a challenge and a delight to find ways over, under or beside the boulders. The creek has pools as it exits the boulder field and makes its way to join the Shoalhaven River. Starting on the red track we descend into the canyon and then down stream through the boulder field. We will follow the creek to the white track at the confluence with the Shoalhaven River and then up to Mt Ayre lookout for views over the creek and river. Rejoin the red track and back to cars. Creek crossings, slippery rocks, steep walk out. Location: Bungonia NP Map: Caoura 8928-3N Limit: 12. View |

On this walk, we will see Waratahs, Grevillea Speciosa, Boronias, Dillwynia, Banksia, Wattles, Pea Flower, Epacris, Rice Flower, Christmas Bells, Hardenbergia and more. Bonuses are beautiful old trees, Grass trees, magnificent sandstones, waterviews to the Barrenjoey and Lion Island, visiting Pearl Beach and Patonga beach. We will also take a circuit bus ride at Patonga to see the township before setting off on our walk. It is a long day. Not suitable for someone who needs to get back by a certain time. Hazards: Some steep and slippery sections. Where we walk to Umina from Pearl Beach along the water edge, there is a sign to say "Walk at own risk" as we have to walk next to a Rockface. Limit: 15.
