This presentation will discuss Thomas Vallance Wran's significance in Australian art history and role of sculpture as architecture’s silent voice, inasmuch as ‘architecture is history’. Thomas Vallance Wran (1832- 1891) came to Rockhampton in 1870 as a selector and established himself in Balmain 2 years later. His sculptures can be seen on major Sydney monuments such as the General Post Office, The Great Synagogue, Annandale Creative Arts Centre and Founders Hall at Newington College. His last work is a coat of arms on Balmain Court House. We may take photographs of the speakers and the audience at this event. Read here for more details. Duration 1 hour Limit: 4. View

Contact Leader: Heather Lakiss directly by email: heatherlakiss@gmail.com Circular Quay to Jubilee Park (Glebe) This is a foreshore urban walk, via Barangaroo, Cockle Bay, Pyrmont Bay and Point Park, walking through the Fish Market area where you can view the building of the new Fish Market, Pyrmont Bridge by Wentworth Park, Blackwattle Bay and Park, which is reclaimed land dedicated as parkland, with some interesting history to read, buildings and relics of interest and onto Glebe Point - see the Moreton Bay Figs, Bicentennial Park to the light rail at Jubilee Park which takes us to Central Station. Mainly level walk. 10.5KM View

Art and Memorial Walk. We will follow the Botanic Garden and Domain Art and Memorial Walk. Discover aromatic herbs as well as sculptures in the Herb Garden. Pause at the Police Wall, Morshead Fountain. Park walking with harbour views. Water available and drop out points. A scenic and relaxed pace ride on cycle paths and cycle routes around the foreshore. Passing through historical properties, then cross over on the punt. Return to the start over John Whitton Bridge. There are train stations along the way if you prefer a shorter ride or getting tired. Unfortunately, riding an e-bike on this trip will mean that you are not covered under NPA club insurance; Bushwalking Australia is working to see if it can be covered for future trips. Mostly on cycle paths, but some road crossings with vehicle traffic. Be aware of other track users, debris /damage/uneven path, and possible mechanical failers. Limit: 10. View

(Updated Details) As part of Parramatta to Shoalhaven Heads walks series, we will walk from Shellharbour (Junction) to Kiama mostly on the 'Kiama Coast Walk'. This section takes us on pathway over the Minnamurra River, see the spectacular river entrance, headlands, beaches and rock platforms to Kiama harbour and lighthouse. Those from Sydney take South Coast train departing Central 07:29, arriving Shellharbour Junction 09:34. Walk starts at Shellharbour Junction station and finishes at Kiama station. Part of the Great South Coast Walk (http://greatsouthcoastwalk.net/) a long-distance walking route along the southern coastline of New South Wales, from Bundeena on the southern fringe of Sydney, to Mallacoota, just over the border in Victoria, 660km in total. Limit: 15. View

The walk starts at Bowen Hill Trail, GR 703 977. Walk east then north on a ridge and descend into a gully at about GR 712 982. Continue down the watercourse and then clockwise around the cliffs till about GR 979 990. Climb to the ridge and walk back to the cars. Exploratory. About 11 km. Scrambling and exposure. Lady Martin's Bath. NEW track down from Martin Place (no scrambling down steep hill). Sassafras Ridge fire trail. Find track to kangaroo rock carving. Down to creek. Then up Sassafras Track to Springwood station. NOTE if parking at Linden first and unfamiliar with the area contact me for directions. Linden is an isolated station, no shops etc. Steep, rough, could be slippery whether wet or dry leaves. Map: Springwood 90304S Limit: 15. View

This is a fairly gentle walk in the lower Blue Mountains that includes some great views over Sydney from Marges and Elizabeths Lookouts. Walking under the Highway near the RAAF Base we discover a disused railway tunnel and an old tramway, used to build the present railway line. We will follow the tramway to its end and see some more great views. Much, but not all the change in elevation on this walk is downhill. We finish at Lapstone Station. Booking essential. (Fully Booked) From Lake Couridjah car park we will head along Slades Rd and left into Dry Lakes Rd and follow this fire trail to the boundary of the NP. After backtracking a short distance we then traverse a new track through to Radcliffs lookout for lunch. After lunch it's a short backtrack to pick up a track down through a glen to the ruins of a farm house and then on to Lake Werri Berri where we make our way back to the cars. The walk starts at Bowen Hill Trail, GR 708 991. Walk to spot height 673 m, then north west and descend into a gully. Continue clockwise around the cliffs till about GR 702 005. Starting from Glenbrook Station, walk to Douglas Smith Park, walk down Station St fire trail to Glenbrook Creek, walk alongside Glenbrook Creek to Blue Pool, along The Oaks Trail to the weir, along the creek to Jellybean Pool, continue alongside the creek to the Nepean River, then on the track alongside the Nepean River to Lapstone Station. Steep and slippery sections, several creek crossings. May get wet feet depending on water level in the creek. Limit: 15. View

From the Little Forest carpark, head towards Rusden Head. The carriages is a new Wednesday walk and usually only enjoyed by Sunday walkers. A truly unusual overhang ( the less agile will need to just peek in from above!), and stunning views across the valley and back to waterfalls below Porters Creek Dam. BYO refreshments for your preferred beverage and munchies under the trees back at the parking area. Grade 2/3: Easy /social. Contact leader essential for time and details.....subject to change. View

(Fully Booked) Starting from Buxton Ave on the edge of Nattai NP, we follow a short distance on fire trails to pick up a track that leads us down to the W44 fire trail in the Blue Forest of Thirlmere Lakes NP. Head east on W44 to a locked gate and continue along W.E Middleton Drive until reaching a fire trail on our right and heading south. At the end of the fire trail is a lookout. From hear we pick out way off-track down the gully and head up the other side and make our way back to the starting point. Unfenced cliffs. Steep sections. Location: Nattai NP & Thirlmere Lakes NP Limit: 10. View
