(Date Changed) (Cabins Full - Waitlist operating) Following on from last year’s successful weekend, we will be back again, bigger and better. This year, the weekend will be dedicated to the memory of our good friend Jim Romanowski. After last year’s weekend, Jim twice asked to make it an annual event, so here it is. Drive to Newnes on Friday afternoon, share accommodation in the comfy and fully equipped Newnes cabins, or stay in the five-star camping ground. Friday night, the famous ukes will be back for a sing-along out the front of the pub. Saturday, a range of walks will be offered with various grades and leaders, the Glowworm Tunnel with a small canyon will be one. Saturday night includes surprise entertainment on the grassed area outside the pub including a toast to Jim. Sunday morning sleep-in then walk to the top of Mystery Mountain for brunch, great views and pagoda exploring. For those interested, a walk around the ruins on Sunday afternoon is available. Cost is approximately $120 pp for both nights in a cabin or $50 for a campsite. Leftover money will be donated equally to The Shepherd Centre and The Colong Foundation. Walks grades 3 and 4. View |

Park on D’Arcy Trail at GR 717 960 and descend into a gully to the east. Continue for about 800 m, then turn south and traverse under cliffs till GR 717 952. Continue up the gully for a short distance, then traverse above the cliffs to the first gully to the east. From here, walk back to the trail, visiting Dog Rock along the way. About 6 km. The Coathanger turned 90 years old in March! This walk takes a good look at the bridge: from a ferry under the bridge and the walk over the bridge, from close up at Milsons Point and Dawes Point, from the Cahill Expressway, Observatory Hill and Wendy’s Secret Garden. (Three views in one!) Excellent wild flowers late winter to early spring.
