There is an opportunity early in the walk to purchase a treat for morning tea at Pasticceria Tamborrino, and an opportunity at the end of the walk to have a coffee or traditional gelato (pistachio is highly recommended) at Papa’s or San Silvestro in Haberfield. When registering, please indicate if you wish to contribute $10 towards a slice of Italian cake and prosecco at the lunch break - if enough say yes, leader will arrange for those agreeing to participate (minimum of 10 required).

Canyon | A trip through a canyon (a gully surrounded by tall cliffs).Walk | A bushwalk of any kind short or longSwim | A trip that involves swimmingSlow pace | A trip where the leader will set an easy pace.(Fully Booked - Ask leader about waiting list) Deep Pass Canyon is quite possibly the easiest wet canyon you can do and you can normally manage to stay dry for most of of this trip if you are agile. Even then you'll only normally get wet up to your waist. There are no abseils but there are quite a few places where you need to haul yourself up short length ropes. Along the way you'll encounter many small and stunning waterfalls and cascades where a swim is certainly worthwhile experiencing! Before the canyon we will do a short sidetrip to the impressive Split Rock which has some interesting tunnels within its imposing structure. Rock scrambling and slippery bits.

If you wish to have dinner before, meet at Canton Cafe at Dixon Street at 6 pm.  If you prefer to just go direct to fireworks, meet outside the cafe at 7:30 pm.  Please indicate your option on RSVP. Bring a drink (not glass) and snacks while we wait for the fireworks.  After the fireworks, walk to Central to catch train or bus to go home, unless you wish to stay for the midnight fireworks to see the year away.. With a drop of nearly 300 metres in a gorge which is 800 metres long and only 76 metres wide, is the deepest gorge in Australia. The track is well defined to and from the canyon and is a steep descent/ascent. The canyon itself has a boulder field that is a challenge and a delight to find ways over, under or beside the boulders. Walk | A bushwalk of any kind short or longSwim | A trip that involves swimmingPublic Transport | There are public transport options to and from this activity.Glenbrook Gorge is truly a spectacular place and within its imposing sheer walls is a watercourse of great beauty with many swimmable pools and cascades to savour on a warm summer's sunny day! The last time I did this walk was in August when it was too cold to swim but hopefully we will be able to go for many a dip as we make our way down the gorge. The trip route/plan is  to climb up to Portal Lookout and descend via Tunnel View Track. However, if it's going to be a hot day I'll simply return via the way we came, reversing our way back up the gorge. Rock hopping.
