(Fully Booked) From Newnes we will walk to our superlative basecamp at Canobla Gap via Little Capertee Creek, the famous Red Rocks and Canobla Creek. Then follows 2 day walks climbing Mt Canobla and Point Anderson both of which offer fantastic views of the surrounding Gardens of Stone National Park. This basecamp has reliable water, acres of grassy river flats to camp on and no crowds and is one of my favourite campsites ever! A bit of rock scrambling here and there. If you love photography or birds, this is a walk for you. We expect to see Royal Spoonbills, egrets, cormorants, black swans, pardalote, Ibis, pelicans, ducks and other birds. The long jetties along there are also very photogenic. If you don't like steep hills, this is also the walk for you. We walk along Tuggerah Lake from Chittaway Bay to the Entrance. The terrain is absolutely flat. Early exits possible. Bring morning tea and lunch. After the walk we can choose to have drinks at The Entrance. Easy pace. Usual hazards with walking. Leave one vehicle at GR 243 305 on Glen Davis Road and drive another to GR 249 322 on the plateau. Climb onto the escarpment and walk southwards, enjoying spectacular views. Park near spot height 1119 off Blackfellows Hand trail and walk down through huge pagodas into the top of Kangaroo Creek Valley. From here we follow an old road down the valley before leaving the road and climbing onto the peninsular above. The return trip to cars involves the off-track section of the walk and includes finding a way off the peninsular and crossing the upper part of Kangaroo Creek.
